Tony Stewart will not race in Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Stewart’s public relations director, Mike Arning, made the announcement in an email to media late Thursday afternoon.

Stewart will be replaced behind the wheel of the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet by Jeff Burton, who is retiring at the end of this season to become a full-time analyst for NASCAR on NBC

There is already a theme song for Burton riding around the track.

Slow Ride by Foghat

The truth hurts.

No surprise at all, I would imagine he will take a lot of time off. Rest of 2014 at least. His PR would suffer dramatically if he didn't, and his sponsors are hanging on by a thread.

A terrible thing all around, and safety needs to really be not just encouraged but enforced in Nascar.

Smoke really should have left
the dirt track circuit after his injury.

I don't know if he hit that
kid on purpose or not.

But, as an elite Sprint cup driver,
WTF is he doing racing start up's
and hobbyist on damn dirt tracks?

Hope it is proven to be a complete accident
but, wow he's an idiot.

It's like a MLB player coming in to a local softball league.
What was he trying to prove?

This is turning into OJ...

And the NASCAR fans and posters are the black/mexican/mixed jury/....

OJ was a court of law...but bolstered by a more innocent time.

He's safe, co.
