He had one of the strongest legs I've ever seen kick a football.

That isn't how the str system works.

The stars are based off of impact the player could have immediately. 5* is someone who can come in and be a game changer. 4* is a solid player who could see time first year. 3* is someone who is gonna wait and below that you may never play at all. Practice squad guys with potential. It's spelled out somewhere but I'm at work and don't wanna look up the link.

The N.O. Saints used a first round pick to get one out of Tx.

Russell Erxleben

He's been a bad bad boy

quote:

AUSTIN, Texas -- Former Texas All-American and NFL kicker and punter Russell Erxleben was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in federal prison for running an illegal investment scam that netted $2 million.

Prosecutors said Erxleben scammed investors from 2005 to 2009 with fraudulent deals that promoted dealing in post-World War I German government bonds and a work of art purportedly by French painter Paul Gauguin.

He also received three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay restitution.

It will be Erxleben's second stint in federal prison. He was sentenced in 1999 to seven years for a scam that robbed investors of $36 million.

Erxleben, 57, holds the Texas record for longest field goal at 67 yards. He was a first-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 1979.

Right and I have two points. 1. That is stupid and 2. Kickers have a much bigger impact than most players on the field. Yet you can be great and still be a 3 star.

The star system as implemented is stupid and sucks. It should be a rating of your ability at your position.

I'm nor a recruiting junky but I've always seen kickers rated 2 stars except that kid FSU and bobby bowden got after a couple missed kicks kept them from playing for it all.
