Umm, our brilliant President decided to un-occupy all of Iraq, thus leaving no one to remotely put up a fight against these fricking savages

Nope, according to Obama, he got everyone out like he promised he would. (But now he is saying it wasn't him). The fricking guy just cant help himself!

The Obama administration's proposal was to seriously draw down troops so that he could officially declare an end to the war in Iraq, but to still leave a small contingent of forces there. But Iraq wouldn't agree to a new status of forces agreement.

I also don't believe Al Qaeda denounces ISIS as being too brutal. What a joke, that's bullshite.

You can bet that Al Quaeda is just saying this because it is good political currency. The reality is probably that political differences led to the split.

The same group that was beheading people on video, repeatedly?

You really believe that's about ISIS being too brutal? Its about power and money like everything else.

I tend to also believe that it was political differences that led to the IS-AQ split.

Can someone explain to me what ISIS is? Seriously... I have no idea what it is. Terrorists? What does it stand for?

Every time I see or hear the word I think of Archer. Yes, I'm ignorant.

ETA: Explain it to me like you would a 12 yr old. Thanks.

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Or, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

" In its self-proclaimed status as a caliphate, it claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world[48] and aspires to bring much of the Muslim-inhabited regions of the world under its direct political control,[49] beginning with territory in the Levant region, which includes Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Cyprus, and an area in southern Turkey that includes Hatay" - Wikipedia

One of its predecessor groups was Al Qaeda in Iraq. You may remember them from the rough time of the insurgency.

ETA: Also, they want to be known as just the Islamic State (IS) now since they've officially declared the caliphate.

No, I agree with you that it's not over them being too brutal. I think it's due to mostly politics.

You've got some hardline Westboro Baptist (albeit Islamic) types that have guns.

You have poors who just want to eat signing up to fight for them.

They are brutally crucifying Christians and shooting others in the back of the head, so people are scared of them.

They have basically taken over a few rural areas of Syria and Iraq - two countries whose militaries aren't top notch to begin with.

They would shite their pants if they had to go up against a modern military, or probably even Stannis Baratheon.

When you overthrow a dictator, factions are created or move in to fight for power. That's what is happening here. The only solution: another dictator has to come in and create stability.

Yes I agree the US should permanently occupy every country inhabited by savages. Lets police the world, is what I alway say. Just don't send my kid over there or raise my taxes to pay for it.
