While it's still not officially confirmed by Warner Bros. that "Aquaman" will be a part of 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," The Hollywood Reporter has word that a solo film starring the character is in current development --with two screenwriters working separately on the project.
According to THR, both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are at work on "Aquaman" scripts, a "dual track" development where Warner Bros. is seeking the best possible product from both versions. Beall wrote 2013's "Gangster Squad," and multiple episodes of ABC's "Castle." In 2012, he was reported to be at work on a "Justice League" script. Johnstad has past experience with Zack Snyder (director of "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman" and the upcoming "Justice League"), as a co-writer on both "300" and "300: Rise of an Empire."

There's so much money being made by superhero movies. They're going to milk them for all they're worth. I mean they'll scrape the bottom of the barrel. I can't wait for the Quail Man movie.

The technology finally exists to make a visually interesting aquaman movie, that doesn't mean they will come through with a story worth developing but Aquaman doesn't have to be a failure just because we think:

I'm fine with an Aquaman movie as long as they use this version of him.
The Enemy Below shite was an incredible twist on his character. He makes demands to the World Conference! He cuts his fricking hand off! He straight up lets his brother fall to his death! Aquaman was awesome!
But I doubt they'll do it this way, even though its been the only time I've truly liked the character.

I like that it seems like the backstory and world building will be very similar to how Wonder Woman’s was, because that was a huge hit. That being said, the trailer looks… not great
