Patrick Swayze was a good answer, although I would say that Robin Williams was bigger.

He was also expected, but yea also definitely not as noteworthy as Williams (not to take anything from Swayze).

IMHO RW was the most overrated comedian in history, but he was certainly more popular than Harold Ramis and he will clearly be missed by many people.

Perhaps. I thought he was much better as a dramatic actor than a comedian, to be honest.

He was a huge figure for many years. You might not have liked him ( and I understand that), but you can't deny his celebrity or the way that he was loved by millions.

Robin Williams was one of those actors that no one really seemed to like, almost to the point to being a laughing stock-type celebrity. Now that he's dead, everyone acts like they knew him personally and that he was some kind of guru or something.

I felt way more sad and shocked by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Good examples. No death can trump Elvis though. He was the the king of everything, including celebrity death.

Whitney Houston is the correct answer.

Ah, yes! Good answer! I totally forgot about her, but it was huge news.

But, here's the thing. We ALL forgot about her until you mentioned it. So, how big was her death, really?

But, yeah, it was HUGE news when it happened.

Well, we know for a fact at least one person hated JFK, and that's one more than Elvis.

Completely agree, but when it happened it seemed like such big news. I was in college at the time so around 1 am the bars were always playing Whitney as a tribute lol. All the robin Williams hype will die down too. People just like to seem sad and shite on social media. All these people tweeting this stuff really don't give a shite.

Probably but you are talking about The King. No male in history has made more panties go drip, drip, drip.

I was too young to remember John Belushi's death, but people still talk about it.

John Lennon died after Elvis, so you can't go back to Elvis.

I really don't think that you can go back past Princess Diana for anyone. You might debate it up until then, but she is the biggest death of the late 20th century.

Michael Jackson would win this hands-down if he wasn't such a freak. But, because of his ways, there is some debate there.

Also when talking about just comedians, would this be the biggest since maybe Farley?
