Rob Ryan said they see Fortt as a guy that can play both inside and outside. Position changed officially on the roster but he can play both.
It would be awesome to add his size/athleticism to our LB group.

For all of Warren's flash I think Ball is the more polished guy (and is finally starting to flash). It'll be interesting watching them battle for the 4th and 5th safety spots, along with Sunseri.
Agreed, the 4th/5th S spot will be fun to watch in preseason. Can Warren be this year's Peirre Thomas and make the roster of the drafted player (Sunseri/Pittman)?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan keeping more safeties than normal (and fewer LBs). First, it appears we have more quality depth at that position and Ryan has already said that he's going to more schemes relying on Safeties to offset the ever increasing multiple WR packages.
We're just not hearing much out of the LB position so far.

I think we keep 6 safeties honestly

Ryan has the nudes now?

I don't know. White has been dropping back in some packages. I think its 10 DBs total. 5 and 5. A couple of the guys can play both DB positions.

We kept 5 safeties last year so...
I think it's more the overall number of DBs, which most teams keep between 9-11. We usually keep 10.
I know people think we'll keep 6 corners but I don't see it. Everyone is in love with Sweating for some reason but he only played 15 regular season snaps (Wade had 35).
Those guys don't have starter potential and are career nickel guys at best. The safeties seem to be deeper at 4, 5, and 6 than anyone we would keep as a 6th corner.
And I'll carry this over to Reddick. The guy only played 15 snaps last year(week 10 being his last action) and while he showed some ability it wasn't enough to say he could be an every down starter (like Humber could potentially be). I think Knox(who got postseason snaps after being picked up late in the year) has actually shown more than Reddick has and has a better shot of making the roster.
I know a lot of people don't like predicting roster change over but it's going to happen, especially at the bottom.

9-11 DBs, assuming Bailey is still up for playing we're looking at:
Lewis
Bailey
Robinson
SJB
White
Byrd
Vaccaro
Bush
+2 more (Ball, Sunseri, or Warren)
Could easily add all 3 of those safeties and roll out with those 5 as DBs. Vaccaro can play nickel as well which makes him extremely valuable.

They could make up the 1 spot by cutting down to 2 QBs instead of 3 like last year. I think if you have obvious, undeveloped talent you should do what you can to keep other teams from pouncing on them. So six safeties would be okay if that's what they have in mind. What's worse is the Falcons are the main team in my mind that are decimated in the secondary, I think they're going to be prowling the waiver wires soon. Please don't let me see one of these good, young players on Hard Knocks playing for our most hated rival! Please!

As for Knox, he offers inside/outside versatility to go along with good special teams play. He's a freak athlete. It's not often you see a linebacker playing the gunner position on ST and blowing by guys there.

I think 5-6 safeties as well. I think Ball is a lock. I think Sunseri because of special teams. Warren if he keeps being around the ball( a rare and special gift) could make the team as well.
Would have been crazy to think 6 safeties a couple of years ago.

Hopefully not major, I think he could be great in our system this year.

Tampa sent us a gimp.
I guess turnabout is fair play.

The important thing to remember is he still has legs.

We paid a dime for Lorig. They paid a ton for Nicks. I'll take that to the bank.

Bummer about Lorig... weren't we seeing a bunch of really good updates about his play early in camp? Sounds like he's a real road grader (which I guess you would expect out of a FB, but still)

So we have a leg, a shoulder, a oblique, and a grubb?
Is that about it?
Oh and a old guy that keeps passing out on a cart.
