Your download speed will be decent enough but that doesn't matter as much for gaming as ping does.

The signal has to travel too far with satellite internet to give you a decent ping.

When you press a button it will have to travel from your satellite to the one in the sky then back down to earth before it registers. It will be lag on top of lag.

Yea that makes sense. It's been years, but I feel like when I lived with my mom and would play COD or something, it never seemed that bad. I remember playing for hours on end and not having any issues. But, my sister and husband live in the house I'm thinking about moving in when they leave, and her husband says it's unplayable most of the time.

I need muh games

Satellite ping is measured in seconds.

My parents have gen4 hughesnet though, and I did a speedtest at their house last year. I recall the ping being better than usual for satellite. And by better than usual, I mean around 600-700ms.

Yeah, the signal has to make a 100,000 mile round trip to work, so it takes a while
