FYI on Stone: They were planning to open a site in Huntsville, Alabama. The State and local governments offered lots of incentives (and introduced legislation to change laws)to get them to come, which turned out to be the very reason they didn't come. They saw a lot of quality local brewers in the area and were offended the local brewers weren't getting the same incentives from the state and local governments. (Or so the rumors go)

Heard the same thing. I don't think that's a bad thing.

That's great, except that if the state changed the laws because of Stone, then they'd have to change the laws for everybody (theoretically). So while I appreciate their sentiment (frick you, Alabama. Stop shitting on local business and you know... Being Alabama), I wonder if the effect was actually what they were going for (now they don't have a place in Alabama to tap the southern beer market as readily and they leave the rest of the craft breweries in the wind).

SC actually passed a "Stone Law" trying to lure them here for an East Coast brewery. even if they don't come here, it really helps all of our local breweries grow anyway. win/win
