Miles will get his statue, as he should, but not until his tenure is over, which I hope is a ways away. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
I do like the idea of that quote accompanying a statue though. It doesn't just apply to schooling some hack reporter on his comments.
It really could be a legacy for all future Tigers to take to heart long after Miles is gone and the next generation is tasked with continuing the success, as it is never guaranteed.
That, along with a banner running along the inside rim of the upper deck with the quote "This is Death Valley, truly a place where opponents' dreams come to die" would be excellent touches to Les Miles Field at Tiger Stadium
Damn these next few years are going to be fun

Shoot, UF made that plaque of Tebow's rant after that Ole Miss loss. I wouldn't want that kind of treatment necessarily, but have it in the locker room and/or weight room for the players.

So you want him to have a plaque because of something he said to a former Alabama QB on ESPN in the middle of July?

We need to build a statue of Saban first. Miles is just standing (barely I might add) on his shoulders.

What about saying building a statue of Saban - who truly built LSU into something Miles could run - reeks of attention seeking?
If anything, it reeks of common sense.

Maybe I should have clarified that I would expect it if win a few more rings and passes McClendon. I thought I made that point obvious or clear in the original post.
Still in all, that might be the best summary of "winning", that I have ever heard.
It was early folks, and I was full of that Purple and Gold Juice with Football and Sleep tangling in my head. I usually leave thorough threads that are clearly explained.
Despite the firestorm, that would be a hell of a quote and Monument. As it would speak to any coach and fan base of their day and time. Be it the 2020 Tigers, or the 2056 Tigers, that quote will stand the test of time.
I don't mind being flamed for a 3 am post. But I can see the monument in my head, and it's a pretty damn bad arse.
I can agree that is should be done when he retires, but we can agree that if we get a few more titles, and he passes McClendon, or maintains his high winning percentage, that it should be done.
And if not, the quote needs to be put somewhere. Locker Room, outside the stadium, Somewhere.
P.S.
I woke up with the feeling of "the morning after."
Lesson learned, late night posting is like "drunk texting."
I'll watch myself, and make sure to stay away from my laptop unless I'm 100% aware that my message isn't clear.
I'll admit that my fandom took over after rewinding my DVR for the 30th time.
Maybe I'm crazy, but that quote is something I couldn't have written given two days to come up with a summary of winning.
Les delivered it on the fly. Absolutely classic.

I'd love to see a Les statue out front. Love what he's done for the program while here, think he deserves it with the success and how the players label him as a cool cat and fun to play for.

we are not alabama. we do not put up statues at eh behest of nut job fans.

I'm over trying to defend Miles' program to the likes of you.
Compare Saban's last 3 years in BR (30-9, inarguably HIS program), and just Miles' last 3 years (33-7, without question HIS program) and tell me how Miles is "barely" standing on his shoulders. 9 years later, and Miles is still exceeding what Saban did here, the same way he exceeded what Saban did immediately after taking over in 2005 (34-6 in first three years).
And I've got bad news for you, it's only going to get better.
The best staff LSU has ever had, combined with the most talent we've ever had, means the best is yet to come.
Just enjoy your routine while you can. The next few years are going to be so boring for you while we all continue to enjoy this ride

Another great Les quote. Love that guy.
Look, he'll get his statue in due time. I don't think given his recent history it's unreasonable to expect him to pass Cholly Mac in the next 4 years. That's 10.5 wins per season...very doable with this staff and the talent they've acquired. If he can do that, win 1-2 more SEC titles, and hoist another NC, I think it's a given he'll get a statue once he's retired. Any more accomplishments would be lagniappe.

This should have been the original thread.
My apologies for the CAPS, in the original thread, I'm all but a week into my TR membership (won't happen again).
However, flame away at this updated explanation of the OP, as it is 9.AM., and I am fully aware of what I am saying.
Yes, I want Les's quote to be written in stone, somewhere. It is that great of a quote.

A tribute to Les Miles will be done at the precise time it is supposed to happen, and in the precise form it is supposed to be. Will be it be a statue? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it won't come from this website.
