I'd buy a Porsche 911 Carrera. No, really. I'm on disability with back and neck trouble. Last summer I woke up with foot drop one day. I was walking with a cane for two months. It went away, but I said frick this. I'm buying my Porsche while I know I can still drive. A couple weeks later I was driving one.

While it seems to be an implausible scenario, this reminds me of a true story. The woman who owns my daughter's daycare, her seemingly healthy teenage daughter woke up one morning earlier this year and couldn't feel anything from the waist down. Spent months going from doctor to doctor for tests to figure out what was wrong. She was completely wheelchair-bound.

Then one day a couple of months ago, she fell on her arse while trying to get back in the wheelchair, and the feeling in her legs started coming back, and she was actually able to stand up. As far as I know, to this day nobody knows what was going on. Still having tests done at doctors all over the country. I can't imagine the nightmare after that of every day wondering whether your legs are still going to work the next morning.

My grandfather mowed the yard one day. Next day couldn't get out of be. Lost all use of arms and legs. He is not walking again after 4 years. Took almost a year before he could get out of bed without help.

I'd keep on keeping on and reading these quality OT threads

You keeping judging everyone for the quality of the threads they start, but do you ever start threads on the OT? I don't think I have ever seen one of yours. What exactly do you contribute to this site other than your harsh criticism of every thread that is started?

depends ... you said the junk still works, so i don't know where the ability ends and the disability starts ... unless i were paralyzed from the neck down, i'd keep living and loving life ... too many people in wheelchairs have led extremely meaningful and fulfilling lives for me to say 'frick it' if a wheelchair is all that separates me from the norm ...

from the neck down ... dunno ... that'd be tough ...
