airliners are a lot more agile than people imagine, because of certification/mission requirements, their power to weight ratios exceed that of many fighter aircraft, the new wings are incredibly efficient, these are by no means what everyone thinks of as lumbering airliners

Exactly so. My unprofessional guess is that the thrust/weight ratio is more than adequate but that you don't want a big fuel load in the wings. Or passengers who scare easily. Amirite?
