SIAP - I searched and found nothing.

quote:

BRISTOL, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ Bristol police have charged a mother with a misdemeanor summons of leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle.

Police say Tuesday they found an 11-year-old girl in a vehicle at 60 Middle St. She was very responsive and the interior of the car was not excessively hot, though the outside temperature was 85 degrees.

The girl told police that she had asked her mother to stay in the car while she went inside. Her mother, Christina Williams, 30, corroborated the story.

Williams is charged in the case.

She should be lucky she didn't leave her dog in the car... Cops would have shot the dog and then charged her for animal cruelty

We used to stay in the car by ourselves when we were that age, usually listening to the radio. We have collectively lost our minds as a society if anybody believes what this lady did to be a "crime."

As a Law Enforcement Officer.....I would definitely NOT have charged the mother. The child is 11 years old and is MORE THAN CAPABLE of exiting the vehicle if it becomes excessively hot in the vehicle.

Common Sense is lost on some

This is really strange. At what age are we allowed to let our children be out of our sight?

That's crazy. I was driving when I was 11. And no, it wasn't legal. I could barely reach the clutch but I once did manage to drive my sister to the emergency room at that age.

Times have really changed.
