They're still short. They've been stalled out for months.

There's no question that organizers aren't collecting signatures at the same pace as they were at the start. The last time the campaign gave out a number, around the beginning of this year, they had collected about 10,000 in four months. It's taken more than 6 months to get the next 7,000.
Near the start of the campaign, organizers hoped to finish collecting signatures by the end of February. That didn't happen. Hoffpauir said at a community meeting on May 6 that the group was four to six weeks away from reaching 18,000. That didn't happen.
Still, Rainey said, "it hasn't slowed. It's just taking us longer than we anticipated."

should be moving to 70810 in next two months... It will be the first thing I do

What a subtle brag.
When do they get to 20,000?
When do they get to 20,000?

Whatever happens, they need a new spokesperson. Rainey is a jackass.

Let me look into my crystal ball....
18k is the max needed. 20k is just for cushion. So the answer is really "it doesn't matter".

So when does Frontline brand them as racists?
Would imagine they will get their final signatures after that airs.

I hope St. George fails because otherwise I'll never hear the end of it from my SO who is staunchly opposed (lives inside the city limits and went to private schools).
I hope it succeeds to spite LSURussian who has been an absolute douche on this board and the poliboard whenever this subject has come up.

I don't really care what happens with this.
I lived in the Garden District and went to private schools.
How will this affect my family (nieces) who live in the same area and will go to private school? Will this affect either of my parents who also live in the city limits? Tax wise?

I see Baton Rouge not looking at this the right way. They should go NOLA and use the wealthy tax base that will be left to make a stellar infrastructure. Property rates will skyrocket with first class mass transit, a university, casinos, a up and coming downtown, bike paths, quality parks that can be used by everyone, public social events.
BR City residents should say good riddence and start working on a brighter future. Just sign the divorce papers.

It could hurt private schools in the St. George area like St. Michael's and Parkview Baptist. Tax wise, it means less sales tax for the city of BR. It also means that sales taxes collected from places you may shop at (like Target, Best Buy, the mall, Perkins Rowe, Siegan Marketplace, ect) would go to the new city rather than BR.
Will if effect you much? Probably not. She's just really emotional about it and really harbors some serious resentment against some of the people from that area that she went to school with. Also, she seems to really hate the corrupt people leading this venture while ignoring all of the corrupt people trying to stop it.

Well if it goes to a vote, they will lose anyway. If there was truly that many people that wanted it then they would have gotten the signatures already
