The answer is staring you in the face in this reply. You took enough biology for a bachelor of GENERAL STUDIES. That is your major. It is what your degree is. You did not major in biology. You did not get a degree in biology.

i will admit to having no idea why accounting is a BS...i'm sure some here can answer that.

yes, chemistry is a science
yes, biology is a science

i guess i should edit to add, NO they are not the same even though both are a science

Because it is a science Just not in the same sense that biology of chemistry is.

There is no legitimate argument for saying you got a degree in something you didn't. If you feel you are that close to deserving a BS degree, why don't you just go back and knock out the missing classes. That way you wont have to deal with this "situation". Hell, you might even learn something.

It is. You got a degree in general studies, not bio.
