Just an FYI... when the Superdome first opened in New Orleans back in the 70s they allowed smoking even though it was indoors. By the second half you cook look up at the roof and see huge clouds of cigarette smoke.
During that same era I also went to baseball games at the Astrodome and did not notice any smog in the air. Don't know if they banned cigarettes from the beginning or maybe they had a better ventilation system.

2nd Hand Smoke NOT Linked to Lung Cancer

The study found no statistically significant relationship between lung cancer and exposure to passive smoke, however. Only among women who had lived with a smoker for 30 years or more was there a relationship that the researchers described as “borderline statistical significance.” Over at the Velvet Glove, Iron Fist blog, however, journalist Christopher Snowden notes “there’s no such thing as borderline statistical significance. It’s either significant or it’s not,” and the reported hazard ratio was not

I like it when they shoot off fireworks in a dome stadium and smoke is everywhere but yet nobody bitches.

Is smoking allowed in Tiger Stadium?

My buddy tells me you have to go under the stands or out by the fence. Someone will have first hand knowledge on here I'd imagine.

Starting in the fall semester, smoking will be banned on the entire LSU campus.

I know that the effects are well documented. But just curious: how many coroners reports list "second hand smoke" as cause of death?

There's also a big difference between smelling someone smoking outside and actually breathing in second hand smoke.

I've seen reports go both ways on 2nd hand smoke. But if you've ever walked through a major air port and looked inside those glass smoking rooms you know it's not a healthy place to be.

This is why I live in south Louisiana. frick all this hippie shite. Its bad enough they are banning it on college campuses.

What effects are you referring to? I know it's not lung cancer.
ETA: Just looked at Cancer.gov page on 2nd hand smoke. All their reports date from 1999-2010. The study I linked was published in 2013.

We are gonna look back and hate ourselves when all these poors stop smoking and live longer.
We don't need bans, we need to let nature take it's course. Smoking has been deemed lower class behavior by way of American Propagandist efforts.
This fact has forced middle and Upper Class Americans to discard the vice. We should leave it as is and idealize the smoking behavior in circles of poverty while pushing massively subsidized birth control for poors, funding it all with an increased tobacco tax.
Stop breeding poverty, people.

When you enter a private establishment that allows smoking, no one is forcing you to do anything...just leave. You don't have the right to force a business owner to provide you with services under YOUR terms.

Are health codes against the constitution as well
oh so then why do we allow them to sell alcohol? You don't like smoke, a business allows smoking, then don't fricking go in.
completely contrary to the point of health codes as well. Those exist to protect the consumer from hazards they're unaware of.

I'm cool with banning it indoors... But outside is just stupid. Do you know how many carcinogens and carbon monoxide you inhale just by being outside in a city? Like sone have said, it's also impossible to enforce. Good luck telling people they can't smoke on game days...

Iowa enacted a public smoking ban a few years back. It was sold to the public as The Iowa clean air act
It is a crime in Iowa to smoke on any public property, including the parking lot at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. They write tickets for this.
The only businesses exempt are casinos.
This all from a state that is a massive agricultural node with zero emission testing requirements.

I'm glad I live where I live. Just about all bars, casinos, and even a few restaurants still allow smoking inside. There are no bans it's up to the businesses, as it should be. But then again there is a high percentage of people in the delta who smoke, probably more smoke than don't smoke

I like to smoke but I hate smoking indoors.
The world is better without it.
