I really like sons. It's absurd at times but a ton of tv shows are.
I couldn't stand chiklas or however you spell it. Just couldn't stand anything about him. Shield wasn't for me. First episode ending was awesome but couldn't keep watching.

That scene ... has always stayed stuck in my head.
**spoilers**
The Shield was full of those - just the pilot (directed by the great Clark Johnson - who directed the pilot/finale of both The Shield and The Wire - making him my submission for GOAT television director) - had the crackhead who killed his ex-wife and sold his daughter, "Why didn't somebody stop me?", Vic's interrogation of the doctor who ended up with the daughter, "Good cop and bad cop left for the day. I'm a different kind of cop."
The money train reveal in the abandoned swimming pool - Margos - particularly when Mackey drops him. Cavanaugh losing it. Shane taking out Lem - Vic and Cavanaugh going at each other at the scene of Lem's murder - Shane and Family's final scene, Vic's recitation of his crimes, the scene you mentioned with Ronnie and the actual final scene of the series - all without me looking at a list.
Another one I remembered while typing this - the first time Corinne took the kids and left - Vic losing his $hit at the house. Vic holding it together to reassure his kids after he was shot before going into surgery.
IMHO, the greatest of all times - although it is a very close race among the top 4 - I'm holding a place for GoT, but it has to finish to be considered (and the other 4 are cop/crime shows).

Well, SOA has gotten progressively worse with writing, and acting. And now all the best characters are dead so I don't see that improving at all.
The Shield by a COUNTRY MILE.

A better thread would be American Horror Story vs. SOA.

The Shield
The only major player from The Shield to not make a cameo in SOA is Mackey, I'm hoping Sutter has him for the final season.

His ICE deal was only for 3 years, so he should have plenty of free time.

I met Walton once. I could barely put together a basic sentence I was so starstruck.

The Shield and it's not close. On my short list of great shows. I'll never forget the feeling of desperation that you felt Shane have at the end and the way he said "family meeting" before the end.
I was working nights during the last few season so was watching them on delay. After Lem's death my mom called the next morning to ask if I had watched it yet, I told her no and that I'd call her after I did. She said she had to watch that episode on the floor next to her bed holding her breath it was so intense.

when watching a couple of SOA eps last night to almost get completely caught up, it reminded me of something obvious between the shows (it's not necessarily limited to these shows....i once commented about it on 'justified', too)....seemed like these characters might've actually gotten away with more shite if the female characters were kept in the dark.
on SOA, gemma (and to a lesser extent, tara) is so meddlesome & manipulative, their participation usually causes more harm than good, and usually results in the gang having to go from A to C, D, and E before landing on B. on 'the shield', look at mara (and by extension, her mom) and corrine. if mara wasn't in the loop, the strike team might possibly have gotten away with the money train & the drama that followed. and corrine....while maybe she can't technically be "blamed" for anything, the pressure she put on vic wasn't exactly realistic. she continued harping "we need more money for our family", as if she was oblivious of vic's salary ....then when vic comes through, she's like "where did this come from??" the guy couldn't win with her, lol....
the male characters were already bad enough on their own, but the female characters were like the proverbial gasoline poured on the fire
edit: on an unrelated note, i just found out that courtney love is signed on for season 7 of SOA....why, oh why???
