I guess it can play out two ways. Either people quit using it because it's so shitty (they basically kill a helpful road) or traffic backs up beyond belief. I guess they were hoping for both schools of thought to even out.

How was this ever viewed as improving the situation?

I don't even see how they allowed Sonic to go up there. And LOL at Sonic hiring cops daily to direct traffic. As if that will do anything

At least they will turn over the tots so you'll always get fresh ones. Thank goodness my driving the school bus to the Lab School days are in the distant past. This is going to be a cluster.

That sonic is one of the dumbest things ever.

Someone could have made an absolute killing by putting in a restaurant/bar with a open patio.

This is the real travesty of that intersection IMO.

People tried to buy that property many times for that exact reason and the owner never wanted to sell.

We called Jennifer Jean the Gaza Strip when I was in school. I don't think much has changed there.

By re-striping Burbank, they opened the door to fixing this problem with a couple turn signals, but they decided to just say "nah, let's f%$k everyone" instead

Left turn signals from E Boyd to Burbank would have saved tons of traffic. left turns from Burbank to E Boyd would increase safety. Removing all stoplight control is negligent. I haven't lived there in years but avoid that intersection.

I agree. I don't see why they didn't change the light to a turning light, since they are going to change the lights out anyway. It's like they thought, "Well, since that intersection has caused some problems, we will just take away the privilege of using it." instead of fixing the problem (left-hand turns).

The people offering to buy were not low-balling them at all. The money was there but the people wouldnt sell. No doubt that Sonic overpaid though

That's too bad. A little restaurant with a patio would have been a lot nicer. And maybe with less in and out traffic at all hours of the day than sonic.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I really don't see much issue here. They are just trying to move traffic to the streets with the ability to handle the volume and lights to do so (highland, Parker, Burbank, Nicholson)

That part of Burbank is going to be screwed no matter what they do. Too many cars and too many incompetent drivers.

But I don't live in that area anymore.

One big appeal to residents living on Boyd is its ease of getting to campus. The residents in the two apartment complexes between Burbank and Nicholson are almost exclusively composed of students.

To get to campus after implementation, the choice will be either a) turn right onto Burbank and make a u-turn down the road or b) backtrack and take Nicholson, thus adding time to the commute.

So many people will be using the mellow/nine dragon parking lot to cut through and make that left on Burbank.

They built it this summer. Just opened a couple of weeks ago. It already seems pretty popular, and it's only summer.

I've been gone 9 months and there wasn't a Sonic when I left. Closest one was the one that caught on fire at Bluebonnet/Burbank
