You think the President should keep up with every American arrested in Mexico?

I think that if he is going to write a sorrow filled letter every time a dual citizen Israeli west bank settler gets killed then the same level of attention should be applied to this case. Or maybe the dozens of US Nationals who have been kidnapped for ransom in Mexico since 2009, or the more than 250 US Nationals that have been murdered (many mutilated) in Mexico since the first day of his presidency. I guess none of those murdered were Jews and none of the perpetrators were Muslim so who gives a frick AMIRITE?

In Mexico, more than 100,000 people have died as a result of narco terrorism since 2006. That puts Mexico on par with Iraq (about 130,000) since 2003. Those numbers crush Afghanistan (20,000) for pretty much all of the 13 years of occupation. I sure hope this kid wasn't involved with any violent organizations, because he probably won't see much mercy from the Mexican GOV

The Mexican government is sure to snap up that deal!

I don't like Obama but what do you mean "letting this happen?"

He broke the law in another country, our President can't just demand his release. That's not how the world works.

Sure it does. At least that's exactly what Al Qaeda did to us

Yet Mexican helos crossed the border, fired some shots at some people and return without retribution from the U.S. Give the pilots credit in that it was all a big mistake.

You don't see a double standard here?

oh boo fricking hoo.

This moron managed to "accidently" cross into mexico. I lived in San Diego It's damn hard to do.

He was armed to the teeth with 3 guns and 400 rounds of ammo.

It has zip to do with him being a marine and plenty to do with him being an idiot.

But hey, any chance to bitch about obama right?

Not sure I'd call him a moron, more like careless, but I largely agree with this post.

He is a lib on a board that is 90++% conservative of course he is going to be unpopular. Every now and then he'll make some points I agree with. He is better than Rex IMO

His unpopularity has nothing to do with being a liberal.

There are several liberals I like on this board. Rob is genuinely a bad person. And he hardly ever makes a point. His most common reply is

Seriously, he's a count.

About half the time. But, honestly, I haven't kept up with story. All I know, after pulling up the story, is that that guy crossed into Mexico with weapons and was arrested. And Fox News is making hay out of it.

I've been trying to find the video that aired yesterday of him describing his captivity, but I can't find it on my phone.

I did find the video of him talking about his arrest.

Linky

If I can find the one that I heard yesterday, I will link it.

I know it sounds like bullshite but from all accounts its legit. Different news agencies have done stories on it and there is no way to turn around on that stretch of road after a certain point. You have to enter Mexico to turn around. He probably got to that point and figure it wouldn't be a big deal if he just crossed the border and turned around. Did he break the law, absolutely no denying that. But you would think all things considered the Mexicans would have just released him. No, they have him chained up and subject him to daily beatings. This is unacceptable and we should send in a extraction team immediately.

It's time to return the illegal immigrants and cut all financial aid to Mexico. Pronto.

I can't say that I agree with the extraction team, although I am getting to that point. I will have a more definite opinion after Wednesday.

But we sure in the hell are in a position that we can demand his release. Torture is unacceptable. And he was being tortured. Thankfully a Mexican atty has taken the case and at least got him moved to a better prison.

Eta: And I'm still about the "armed to a tee" comment.

To be fair, many people would consider driving with 3 guns and 400 rounds of ammunition "armed to a tee."

Most people don't drive around with weaponry like that.
