In what way am I passive aggressive? Someone made the point that maybe they were just there to handle something quickly, such as getting groceries. I was simply saying that's not the case.

And I feel like the appropriate response here is to let them know in a friendly manner that they shouldn't take my spot, rather than have them towed. I would consider that a reasonable response and not passive aggressive.

Leave a note asking them to leave you a 6 pack of your favorite beer when they leave.

They'll get the point in the manner in which you want to make it and you may or may not get a 6 pack out of it.

like I said in my case, I parked closer to bring the groceries inside and then after putting them up forgot to go move my truck until the next evening when I walked back to the parking garage
