I don't get the hype on Tampa this year as a playoff lock. They got worse in this offseason, and they weren't all that great last year.

Disagree they got worse. Added Stralman, Boyle and Morrow (not that those are great players, but they're all solid) and really only lost an aging Salo. Plus they have a healthy Stamkos after he missed more than half the season. They still have to make some moves to get under the cap, so that could change things, but I'd be very surprised if they missed.

The Pens are close to a lock, but their defense is paper thin now (especially if Matta is out) and they are one Crosby injury away from being in deep doggy poo, and Crosby is not the most healthy of players.

The Metro is probably the craziest division in hockey. Really nothing would surprise me except the Pens missing the playoffs and the Hurricanes making it. Any of the other six teams making/missing the playoffs and the order of finish wouldn't shock me at all, including Pittsburgh not winning the division and Carolina getting up to fifth or sixth in the division.

I forgot they added Stralman. The other moves... meh. But Stralman is pretty damn good, and helps the blueline.

I'm with you on the Metro. Every team is about even, though I think everyone is overrating the Rangers based off of their playoff run. They got hot at the right time last year, but I don't see them as significantly better than the rest of the division. Flyers could be in trouble as they keep shedding payroll. Honestly, I really like the Jackets and Caps. I wouldn't be shocked if one of those teams didn't just make the playoffs, but won the division. Pens are still the front-runner, but they've got a lot of eggs in the Crosby basket, and he's never been the picture of health. They are such a top heavy roster.
