OB board - new dryer not heating up question...

Didnt want to post this on the OT, hoping for answers. Brand new dryer not heating, just installed it out of town and cant go back. the only questionable thing in hooking it up was the wiring. The 3 prongs from the purchased seperately wiring were not labeled or colored. (dryers do not come with cords any longer, purchased separately). Is it possible I simply put the wires in the wrong connections and thats the reason its not heating? doubtful I know. its running just not heating.

you might need a 4 prong instead of a 3. Sounds like your heating element isn't getting any juice

This is certainly possible. Could also have an issue with the wall socket. I have had them short one side and only deliver 110 instead of 220 which isnt enough to run the element

Your dryer is most likely fed from a duel breaker. Check in your loadcenter that one of the handles on the breaker isn't tripped.

On a 4 wire outlet, the 2 hot wires should be connected to brass color screws. The neutral should be on a silver, and ground to green.
If only 3 wires, the hots to brass and the neutral to silver.

I'd check the wires coming into the element. While moving they may have come loose

had a heat sensor go out in mine. caused the dryer to run fine, but not put out any heat. Took the dryer apart and cursed at the sensor, which was under the effing heating tube, while changing it. Once I put the dryer back together it worked fine. part cost me 9 bucks. took about 35 minutes to take apart, replace part and then put back together.
