I built my parents a cabinet for an outdoor television. Today they had electricity and speaker wires run by an electrician. Am I overreacting, or is this a really crappy job? I cant see how the guy thought this looked okay.

Conduit matches that ladder pretty good.

Why the hell he didn't run it up in the attic. Call that fool back and stop payment quick.

That is some of the laziest shite I've ever seen. Why the hell didn't they run it through the attic? And as stated before, that smurf duct is for running drops down walls, its not conduit.
TURRIBLE at best

No attic. Is a patio cover they just had installed. I plan to re-do it myself. My parents aren't going to do anything about it. They put in a pool and had all this work done and everything has been done with this type of shotty work. My mom doesn't know any better and my dad is hands of when it comes to this type of stuff. I'm constantly having to show then where they messed something up.

Is there any dead space in between the ceiling and the roof?
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:35 pm to KG6
He could have probably run it without even going in the attic if he had a cable fish tape since those lights are in the right spots.

Just paint the ceiling blue. You won't even notice the conduit

I want to know what he charged for that

That beam can have a pretty good load on it. I wonder if it is engineered to have a hole drilled there...
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:45 pm to fishfighter
It's foam filled panels. No space. We knew there would be conduit under the patio and down the brick, but didn't think it would be this bad.
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:47 pm to KG6
That was probably his only option. He should have at least used white conduit
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:47 pm to KG6
They should of at least ran EMT if it had to be exposed

Have him change that out to white...
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:48 pm to KG6
Well, that's sucks. Guess you will have to just paint that crap or change it out to some white PVC piping. Still going to look like crap.
Posted on 6/30/14 at 7:51 pm to fishfighter
I would make him come back and put it in pvc since it is outside and by a pool, emt will eventually rust as where pvc won't. After he did that I woukd out him and his company to the OB so he can be ridiculed like he deserves. That is the definition of shitty work.

Hell of a lot better than blue...
