Those are definitely solid...when you have people like Robert Redford, Laurence Olivier, and John Wayne at the bottome of your billing, you have a pretty solid cast.

To be fair, a lot of them werent huge stars then.
Absolutely right.
But that might make the casting that much more impressive.
And the biggest "WTF" to me is Tom Hardy. Completely didn't know he was in this. I am going to rewatch this tonight as well. Thanks Coco.

I've heard/read on multiple occasions that BHD was a huge boon for special operations enlistment and recruitment.

I knew a lot of people were in that movie and recently realized Jamie Lannister and Phil from Modern Family were in it but holy shite there's more. I had no idea Hardy was in this.

.....or as I call him, the illegitimate Irons brother.

So I am straying a bit from where this post is going, but if you haven't read the book Seal Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy Seal Sniper....you should. It is mostly about the Black Sea Conflict, a.k.a. Black Hawk Down, and it explains a lot of shite from the movie. It really shows just how accurate a lot of the details in the movie were.
Nice post by the way

While were gushing on this movie, IMHO, this score is Hans Zimmers finest work. And that includes Lion King and Gladiator.

You know there's a book called "Blackhawk Down" that the movie is based off of right.

That's a pretty damn good book itself.

Had no idea half those guys were on there, eg, Bloom, Lannister, Mr. Fantastic, Kindegarten Cop bad guy.

You could've just linked the IMDB page of BHD and saved yourself a lot of time

It's funny, I thought I was almost done and then further down the page were practically some of the biggest names (today) from the movie.

You're right, but then again, that's lazy and not very helpful. Besides, then you wouldn't been able to bitch about it.

Yeah, whomever cast that movie did an amazing job. Really the first American movie roles for Bana, Bloom, Hardy, Isaacs, and Coster-Waldau. Also great "character actors" in small but meaningful roles. Definitely the best "modern war" flick IMHO, with Lone Survivor a close 2nd.

Apocalypse now is another star studded war movie. One of my favorites.

My 15 year old asked to see this tonight so of course, I fired it up.
In this thread, 10 years ago this was at the top, or #2 spot in war films (best in modern films). Is that still the case?
