Just go to the gym and observe. The elliptical is the biggest waste of time and the most used piece of equipment that exist. People like it because it's "low impact", which means it's easy. Look at the people using them, generally so far out of shape that it's disgusting.

I usually do the elliptical machine for 20-30 minutes before I switch to something else.

From what I've seen, people that use them are trying to transition from an inactive lifestyle to an active one. This is usually the first step.

But by all means, let's make fun of them.

These people think they are doing something and bragging how they did the elliptical for an hour yesterday.
Think about that, you did an hour of what you call running on an elliptical. You can't even run to your mailbox, but you can run for an hour on an elliptical. I don't know if these people are actually that stupid, or just in denial. They don't realize that the machine is carrying the momentum for them. Hell, you stop moving on the elliptical and it keeps on going. Why is that? Because it's a freaking momentum machine, that's it. Hell, you have to force it to stop so you can get off of it.

Holy fricking shite.

This whole post is an abortion.

when i was 40 lbs lighter i was a around a 36, but i can't really go lower than that in most jeans b/c of my thighs/hips

i have the epic 90s dress body going, where pants are baggy at the top and you can tie it like a twist tie at the top with a belt

I'm not going to bash because it is better than nothing, but they are not really that effective

and their calorie counters are worthless

I never understood how I could burn twice as many calories letting gravity do all the work than running on a treadmill

but in all fairness(God/Supernatural Deity)...if someone is using any machine at the gym for a hour/day....that person "deserves" to be in at least "okay" shape

joint issues, age....ellipticals have a legitimate purpose....up the resistance(12-20) if you aren't seeing results
