soaked in vinegar overnight
Hard to imagine a chemist who hates the smell of acetic acid, but I do. The cukes with onions soaked in vinegar overnight is the wife's (MHNBPF) thing and I put up with the smell when she does them.

Check into a foodsaver unit. That baby will pay for itself in no time at all.
Glad to have you back MD.

Pinto beans are very popular in your area and over into Alabama.
One of our little farmer's markets gets the flash frozen pintos. I've only cooked them a few times. I use the Bodacious BBQ pinto bean seasoning they sell.

do not like boiled corn on he cob.
I find folks overcook it that way. I cook the ears in the husk in the microwave. Steams all the silks right off and cooks perfectly. In fact, if I'm using corn for a soup or other dish, I cook them the same way for about a minute...just long enough to get the silks to steam away. Makes cleaning the corn a breeze. Takes seconds to pull the cob from the silks and the husk. I hate cleaning corn any other way. Take the thick outer husks off before doing it.

I either grill it with husks on, or get frozen. The extra sweet frozen corn is money. I also will get frozen cobs, butter them up, seal them in foil and cook them, which effetivel steams them in the butter and water from the thawing.
(Oh, I was kidding about the soup comment in that other thread.)

I despise frozen corn on the cob. The texture is awful and it has no fresh flavor to me. It's such a treat when someone uses fresh corn in a crawfish, shrimp or crab boil. Now, THAT'S money!
