Remembering a great man who died 31 years ago today. The great Joe Delaney

I know he wasn't a saint but he was from Louisiana and was a hero. Deserves to be remembered more than anyone I can think of in the NFL world. If you have 22 minutes to watch this video, great tribute to a hero.

I remember it well as it happened just outside of Monroe and I really liked Delaney as a player. The hole the kids went into had been dug in Chennault Park to create a huge hill for a water park slide. The hole wasn't exceptionally large in circumference but was extremely deep. Right after this happened they went in and filled it back up....a little bit late obviously. I think there might have been a low fence around the hole, can't recall for sure, but it obviously wasn't enough to keep people out.

I was living in Monroe when this happened and it effected me a great deal. I am still not sure why people doing the right thing have to pay the ultimate price. It will never make sense.
