It was the same for me until the week before class started. Amanda Belarmino is who's teaching it currently. She's a Doctoral candidate with her BS and MS in Casino and Hospitality Management. She's very knowledgeable about the industry and has been a great instructor thus far.

Completed registration for summer and fall.

Summer AP1:
-ACCT 701 w/McGee
-FIN 701 w/Vines

Summer AP2:
-ECON 705 w/Shaughnessy
-MADM 710 w/F Williams

Fall AP1:
-MKT 701 w/James

Fall AP2:
-MADM 710 w/K Williams
-MADM 760 w/Meeks

Someone let me know if they see an issue with the above!!

@mtntreks...CONGRATS!

@everybody...agreed that we are still getting a great value education with an AACSB accreditation. While I am disappointed in the textbook situation, particularly in MADM 715, I can't say I am not learning anything. Last week we were studying religious accommodations and an associate at my job approached me requesting one. So my learning is being applied in real time. I started my MBA journey at SNHU and halfway through 1 class knew I need to transfer asap. I don't have those same sentiments with LSUS. I am also now 3 classes in so there is no turning back!

@WDE251 Those pairings don’t look bad from what I’ve read on this board. You did right by taking James by herself. I’ve read horrible things about F. Williams and I’m in Econ 705 right now and it’s no joke. If you’re good at regressions and calculus then you should be good with that pairing. However, I was advised to take it by itself from a lot of people and I ended up adding ISDS 705 with it which is easy.

Anybody have anything to add about these pairings?

Summer AP1:
Fin 701 (Vines)
MADM 720 (K Williams)

Summer AP2:
MKT710 (Darrat)

Fall AP1
ACCT 701 (Ambrosio)
MADM 730 (Menon)

Fall AP2
MADM 760 (Meeks)

I have also finished mapping out my program. I am doubling up for the first time and hoping I am not making a mistake.
After Econ705 with White, I am now on edge with the program. I am sure I will use one of my "C" up in this class. Any feedback or help would be great

Summer AP1

MADM 701 - Organizational Behavior w/ Kungu, Kenneth

Summer AP2
ISDS 705 - Mgmt Inform Systems w/ Lin, Binshan
MADM 751 - Ent Innov and Creativity w/ Meeks, Michael

Fall AP1
MKT 705 Hosp.&Casino MKT w/ TBD

Fall AP2
MADM 760 Org Strat & Policies w/ Meeks, Michael

Thank you!

I'm jealous of those of you that can take two classes per term. Talk about finishing FAST!
I just registered...
Sm1 - MADM 720 (F Williams)
Sm2 - MADM 710 (K Williams)
F1 - Fin 701 (Vines)
F2 - MADM 760 (Meeks)

Hoping that knocking out most of my MADM's will help with sitting for my HR cert in the fall.

@Getitdone.... your username is fitting. ;)

I get what you're saying; however, as recently as last year I could never have imagined working full-time, single parenting, and working a seasonal 2nd job while going to school. Well, I ended up quitting my seasonal job, yet here I am (I clocked 50 hrs last week at work and my kids now cook 3 nights a week - spaghetti, tacos, frozen pizza ).

Wish me luck! Tomorrow I have an interview for an HR coordinator within my same org. :)

DieDaily, Thanks! I'll move forward with that one. What was the format? Textbook?

4 proctored tests that are open book. When I took it, the "free textbook" rule wasn't in effect so I had a digital copy of the text. Class was a breeze. I made close to 100%

Does anyone have a copy of the syllabus for MKT 701 with James? I'm taking it next and it has not been posted.

Thanks in advance.

I have decided to do an update on ECON705 with White. I know not everyone agrees with this but I consider it a PSA. Many have commented on her treatment of students, her lack of "teaching" and the horrible material. I have emailed the head of the program and received the response, she is a respected member of the faculty and we should be happy that she gives us the ability to take the Exercise Questions multiple times. For those of you who did not know, these are simply the math questions at the end of the unit where she picks a couple to test us on. I don't personally consider this a gift, but apparently, I am wrong.
I was told several students have received 100% on the exams so I must be wrong. For those who do.. PLEASE TELL THE REST OF US YOUR SECRET!
The actual exams, which is done using Proctorio, allow for nothing at all and requires you to ensure you have memorized 100% of the formulas. The questions are worded as poorly as the textbook is written.
Her response for extra resources and help regarding the topics: "There tend to be plenty of end-of-chapter questions that I do not assign for students to practice with and you are free to post anything about those questions, including all of the steps of your work (unlike the assigned exercises). I do expect you to take advantage of what you already have access to. "

This means I am getting no additional help or resources

I asked about the ability to utilize excel during the exams so that I can visualize the data in order to answer some of the questions as I am a visual person. I finally called her out and asked why she has not responded to several of my emails.
Her response:
"You sent me an email about using Excel during the exams. I have repeatedly said to the entire class that you will have access to your calculator and scratch paper so I did not respond to that question, since I have done so many times."

She only responds to emails she feels are worth responding to that she hasn't possibly vaguely addressed somewhere else. Many times after asking for help or feedback, after receiving a very quick "follow my reading guide" I respond asking for resources that would be clearer to understand. She never responds.

With that being said, I am not saying that I am perfect at economics. Obviously, I am not. I am however an educator and I know what a model teacher looks like. I know how an online course should be structured. This course under her direction has not met this expectation. I refuse to give up and will continue to put in the 30+ hours a week to try and get through this material. I have learned my lesson and obviously should have taken the well known and liked Shaughnessy.

We now have three weeks left and I will continue to try and hold my C average. There are two days left in the semester to drop with a "W".
We started with over 420 students in the class. As of right now we are down to 242. That is a close to 42% drop rate. This should be considered unacceptable by the school.

I wish everyone luck in this program and firmly believe that it is what you make of it. I have enjoyed the classes I have been in, including what many have classified as the work-intensive ones. I hope this somewhat lengthy overview is helpful for someone out there.

Sorry that I have not been able to post lately. I am taking my last class this term, ECON 705 where I am presently carrying a high B. Someone asked if anyone has taken three classes. I did that last term and even though it was tough and it almost got me a C in ACCT701, I was able to survive with two A's and a B. I think that a lot of the insight information posted in the first few pages of this page remains very reliable right now. My suggestion is to take the courses from known commodities. If that class is full, pass. New professors like Kungu and Darrat were/are excellent choices. White, Felice Williams, etc can be challenging so why risk it?

In closing, although I am happy to graduate on May 13th, I am also worn out and on fumes. Maybe later I will be able to reflect on the meaning of this degree, as of now I am too tired to celebrate.

Best of luck to those of you starting out. Stay the course and persist, you will be just fine.

@eh.Yes, PSA PSA PSA - 100% agree with everything you have said. I also, have reached out to multiple people in the administration trying to explain everything and they want to act like it is a matter of us (the students) not liking Dr. White's "teaching style". This is absolutely the worst class I have ever taken in my whole academic career. Tomorrow is the last date to drop with a "W" and I think the dropout is only going to be well over 50%.... is this normal for masters program for so many students to drop?! I think we all need to keep pushing for someone to give us answers on why so many students have dropped out. I am at the beginning of the program here at LSUS, I really do not think I will continue if my experience is going to be like Dr. White's class. Even if you pull off a "C" in the class, are you actually learning the material like you should be? I also got the same response as you did about that we should be grateful she gives us the ability to take the excercise questions multiple times... but is that even learning??? We paid tuition for their service of EDUCATION...
