Which isn't in 99% of the leases here. Also you likely don't understand that the tenant (business) is also paying property tax along with the building/landowner (landlord). Simple fix, pay property tax and you can vote on items that will affect property tax.

My biggest issue with it is the infrastructure getting in and out. They need to either build a back road or improve the only road that leads to and from the area.
I agree with you there. Although, they have a back gate. They just never open it to exit onto Ashland Rd.
Another thing, hopefully the road between Cabelas and RPCC will be completed so everyone isn't being pushed down 30 as well.

Another idea in the works is to put an interstate exit on the back end of the outlet mall that connects with 30 farther down to get the truck traffic and some of the plant workers off of the stretch of 30 by Tanger and Cabela's.

I would rather pay for improved roads like 931 than the parks in the short run.

As long as only folks who own property are allowed to vote on property taxes then I have no problem with this vote. To bad this is not the case, haves will be paying for the have nots.
Yawn

Ascension Parish should start its own BREC.

I will be voting NO. This is not an issue for the government , if a private business wants to roll the dice and see if they can make a dollar doing this great, but this is not what I want my tax dollars going towards,

More of a reason to move out of AP. This council is more worried about catering to recreation and kids instead of dealing with real problems like drainage, roads, sewer and a school system that is on the verge of falling behind.
There answer has always been to raise taxes and deal with problems once they are major. Hwy 42 is 10 years behind the original projected start, but the recreation building in Oak Grove is on its second renovation in the same period.
Chris Loar will solve it all though. Another silver spoon jackass that has no clue what made AP the place everyone wanted to move.

Why is the answer to every question to raise taxes, why can't we look at changing the way we spend the money we already have?

Didn't the voters reject a tax to improve roads?

Yes and we will reject this one as well....no new taxes....figure out how to pay for it with what you have.... Maybe take some of the millions of dollars away from what we spend on libraries?

Funding for them is always an issue.
ETA: Maybe they should do some actual master planning instead of being afraid to challenge developers. If a developer threatens a lawsuit the council folds. Then when they could actually do something good with Edenborne they screw the pooch by not providing a variance. It appears a lack of critical thinking and when they decide to act tough they go after the wrong people.

You think cutting the library budget is going to fund a roads program?
Do you think property taxes in Ascension are high?

For what is given in return, yes.

I'm with you on this.
IIRC, they tried to develop a growth plan several years ago but the locals came out with their pitchforks, claiming they were trying to turn ascension into a socialist European-like state.

Where is the waste?
Ascension has some of the lowest property taxes in the nation.
