I know that we used to discuss this quite often, but haven't seen it discussed in a bit. As we only have 2 jerseys currently, has there been any official chatter on the color/design for the alternate jersey?
Also, I'm just seeing that Charlotte came out with 3 jerseys for their transition back to the Hornets. How is it possible that they are allowed 3 in the first year of a rebrand?

I've gotten used to the Pelicans unis, but those Charlotte unis look good.

They do look good although I much prefer to wea navy, gold, or red as a fan.

I'm the opposite. I already have plenty of navy and red in my closet. Having those colors would be a good reason to diversify the wardrobe.
This is also why you'll see a lot more Hornets gear sold out of local market than Pelicans gear. Unique > Generic

I'm not sure if this is true, but because we are a new franchise we had to wait to unveil alternates, while the Hornets are not a new franchise? I have no idea but this is the only thing I've heard why they already have alternates that makes sense

The Pelicans are an older franchise (1988) than the Hornets (2004)
Both situations are a rebrand, so there really is no difference.

The Pelicans were a whole new mascot and color scheme. Since Charlotte went back to the traditional colors they probably didn't have the same marketing research hoops to jump through.

That still contradicts the reasons given by the NBA of why we couldn't have an alternate.

What were the reasons? I don't remember.
FWIW the NBA has been selling charlotte hornets gear for several years since we got them.

Oh I thought there was more to it than that.
While the bobcats -> Hornets is technically a rebrand, there still exists a high level of brand recognition among the public for the Charlotte Hornets.
Again, IDK about since 2002, but for the last several years you could buy brand new CHARLOTTE Hornets merchandise directly from the NBA. Charlotte going from Bobcats to Hornets doesn't present nearly the same issues as introducing an entirely new brand.

I really hope they go with gold over red. I wish the color scheme in general would have been black and gold.

I wish 1 of our uniforms said "Pelicans" on it... but I doubt I'll get it

I really like the gold ones. Would look much better in real fabric of course. Would definitely pick some up.
