Even for that little bit of insurance, the insurance companies might not pay up with her being a potential suspect.
However my guess is the state will have a difficult time proving intent (seriously because he just doesn't look the type to kill a child), so they will just go after only him and never press charges to the mother.

Well I just read this entire thread. I felt a lot of pity for the guy at first, but as the details come out it paints a picture of a true piece of shite that killed his infant son.
I really don't understand how anyone can intentionally do that to a child, their own child. Those are truly sick individuals.

I have no idea what to make of this case. CNN has pretty much declared him guilty but nothing else makes sense. I remember when my baby was 2 yrs old. I thought about her every 10 mins and would check on her multiple times a day.

Stoddard testified that before the boy died, Harris had visited the website Reddit to search for articles on life without children, and viewed videos on Reddit that showed people dying -- by suicide or execution, in some cases. Harris had also twice viewed a video that shows the painful death of animals left in hot cars, and had searched for how to survive in prison, according to searches of his laptop, Stoddard said.

I've never wanted to kick a stranger's arse so bad in my life.

In all honesty, people like this are the scum of the earth. I look at my kids and I can't BELIEVE how someone can kill their own child. I need an anti-anxiety pill after reading about this case and the details. Unfricking real.

Agreed. My 5 year old boy is my life and the greatest gift I've ever received.

Oh, I agree that he's got a shite ton of explaining to do of his actions, its just going to be hard for the state to find 12 jurors that will all convict him. (see Casey Anthony) with no real motive.

quote:Casey Anthony was not doing these types of things on the internet prior to the murder. She did research on a drug, but the mother said she searched for it for another matter. The stuff this guy was looking at will convict him. He's done.

This isn't like the Casey Anthony case. They didn't really have the best evidence in the world. That's why they lost.

To you and me, it appears pretty damning with what he's been doing, but if the defense can get a bunch of old ladies with no real computer / Internet knowledge, the state will have a hard time.
Jurors, in order to convict a father of the murder of his own toddler, are going to want to see more than a few Internet searches on heat and deaths as evidence.

Internet searches on heat and deaths as evidence.
1. He wanted to live life without a child
2. He did research on death by heat in a car
3. He did research on how to survive prison.
4. He sent explicit messages and photos to multiple women. One of the females Harris sexted was 17
5. He lied about how the child looked when he saw him.
6. His wife asked him if he said too much to the police.
7. Here's a qoute from an article
quote:8. Here's a quote from another article
The detective also raised some points about the wife's behavior in his testimony. He said that employees at the day care center said that when she went to pick up her son and was told her husband hadn't drop off Cooper that morning, she said moments later, "Ross must have left him in the car."
quote:It dosn't take an internet expert to figure this one out. Someone with no computer experience can see this. frick both of them.
The officer also said that he clearly heard a phone call between Leanna Harris and her mother in which Cooper's grandmother was distraught over the news of the boy's death and asked her daughter, "Why aren't you crying?" Leanna Harris replied, "I must be in shock," Stoddard said.

A bunch of old ladies won't be sensitive to a guy who left his kid in the car to bake to death.

Have you talked to any of them? I have and it's surprising how many of the ones I've talked with, ages 40-80, all seem to be giving him the benefit of the doubt.
He just doesn't have the look of a cold killer. He just looks like a passive and dumb middle aged father.

Old ladies, who usually think view their grandkids as their entire world, will not be sensitive. Besides morons I can't imagine who will be.
ETA: I could maybe see someone not too familiar with the evidence giving him the benefit of the doubt, but jurors don't usually fit that description.

I hope you're right, but for now, I wouldn't be surprised to see an acquittal.
