Will Demps have complete authority?

Considering the strange moves Demps has made and the salary cap hell we're in, I wonder just how much rope Benson will give him. You can bet that Loomis has found a trusted former NBA GM (hopefully not named Dumars) to get advice from.
The good news is that there's little to no money left for Dell to screw up with.

I would hope Loomis would veto something like Gordon for Josh Smith if he had to, but there really aren't too many likely moves I can think of that would need to be vetoed. I am seeing a lot of Ryno for Monroe fan speculation, I'd be pretty upset if Ryno for Monroe didn't include dumping Gordon.
ETA: I think the real thing to be concerned about isn't one move. I don't think Gordon for Smith is really all that likely for instance. But I could see Gordon + Ryno for Monroe and then using the rest of the cap space on Luol Deng. I like Deng and have said in the past he could be to the Pels like David West was to the Pacers, but he's not a good shooter, and turning Gordon and Anderson into Tyreke and Monroe demands a good shooter at starting SF. If this happens you're back where you started, capped out with bad fitting pieces on newly signed deals that will be hard to trade for good value.

The question is if there is a philosophical difference between the roster Demps wants and the one Monty wants. With reports indicating management is on board with Monty, we could see moves more toward Monty's ideals.
If they do Gordon+Anderson for Monroe I would see it as largely a rejection of the roster style they currently have.

Remember when people made those "In Demps We Trust" shirts a few years ago? That was so fricking stupid

I'm still not ready to jump off the Dell bandwagon, Jrue and Ryan missed almost the entire season. We still haven't even seen what this team was intended to be. Think it's a little premature to be bashing the guy.

The more I think about it the more I think we should just hold onto Gordon until he comes off the books.

Why is Ryno on the block, still our best trade asset or damaged goods now?

He isn't on the block, but the rumors are we have shown interest in Monroe and it seems fairly unlikely Gordon for Monroe would be enough for Detroit to be interested.

It just looks like any significant deal we make is going to have to include him at this point.
We aren't gonna want to ship out Holiday or Evans. Ryno is basically our only valuable trade chip on the roster.
At this point I'm torn. I'd love to get Monroe and get rid of Gordon's contract, but on the flipside I'd hate to trade away a stretch 4, which is becoming more and more valuable in the NBA these days.

I pretty much agree at this point unless a deal comes along we just can't pass up.

Yep.
It sucks but, but it might suck less than losing Ryno just to get rid of him.
Won't trading him after this year be much easier, as he will be an expiring?

Yeah that's why im confused. There is no other player in the league with his specific value. I know we can get what we want for him, but Monroe, Smith? Is that what we really want for an irreplaceable 4?
I don't see how there isn't a deal out there to rid ourselves of Gordon with nothing, and when I say nothing, I mean a couple 2nd rounder's who haven't panned out.

Unless something big comes up, that looks like the most painless route. I would really really hate to give up a unique player like Ryno just to get a guy like gordon out a year earlier.

What's with the Smith talk?
If we made a move for Josh Smith I might have to reconsider my allegiances until he was no longer with us.
I'd rather sign gordon to an extension than have Josh Smith anywhere near this roster.

I think you could dump Gordon if you were willing to give up the 2015 pick or some of our younger players like Rivers. So Ryno isn't the only path to moving Gordon, but what Ryno + Gordon for Monroe lets you do is completely reshape the roster to a more traditional one if that's the way you want to go, which I personally don't.
Holiday
Evans
Ariza
Davis
Monroe
vs. something like
Holiday
Evans
Martell Webster
Davis
Okafor
With Anderson off the bench and waiting until 2015 to more permanently fill holes.
