Bryant's ego wouldn't let him accept the fact he isn't the greatest player on the team.

Well he's been the best player on the Lakers for 2/5 championships

Well if Bryant would have accepted that Shaq was a fricking beast maybe he would have more rings. Instead Kobe did nothing until the Lakers could build the league's best big man rotation at the time to replace Shaq.

Obviously the Lakers won't contend again until Kobe is gone.

I like Kobe, he is one of my favorite players. And the Lakers are my favorite team. But Kobe really fricked them with that contract.

Kobe is still really good, top 10 player in the league when healthy. But he should be around $14-$15 mil if the Lakers are going to have enough room to build a championship roster.

I pull for both. They are in different conferences.

Been a Lakers fan since I was 6 years old.

Heat fan because I live here mostly and go to some games.

If the heat and Lakers played in a finals, I would probably have to go lake show.

Lake show was the Kobe Lakers of early 2000s I think. Riley was Showtime.

Next question.

First step is for Kobe to retire. Second step is for Jim Buss to retire.

No star is going to want to play with Kobe because he sucks the oxygen out of the room, and he's not good enough anymore to justify that. And Jim Buss is an idiot.

They're going to have to re-build through the draft and maybe trade for a star player that they can trap for a few years while Kobe is still there.

BTW, if they had blown up the team after they got beat by Dallas in the playoffs in 2011, they might not be in this condition. Which is what I remember Magic recommending at the time.

Nick Young played at a discounted salary. Big bump for him to come back.

The other bold move is to trade Kobe to a team that needs a shooting guard to win the title. They'd obviously need to have the financial pieces necessary to send to L.A., along with draft picks.

I'm not going to sit here analyzing their salary lists, but OKC, Portland and potentially Indiana if they want to dump Stephenson all come to mind. New York is an option with Fisher and Jackson, and they could trade Stoudemire and picks to L.A.

yeah, it's really bad. They are praying that Kobe can actually get back to playing at a high level since he missed virtually all of this year.

I love Kobe, but this would be a lot easier if he had signed for 10 mil a year

Kobe will get back to a pretty high level, but it will take till about December. About all they can hope for is they win enough early to stay in contention and squeak in as a 7 or 8 seed.

Lakers are kinda fuct for a while.
