Random Guy in The Office

I've been watching The Office through again for like the fifth time and I was on The Merger episode where the Stamford branch moves into the Scranton branch in Season 3. Towards the end when Michael fires Tony Gardner the camera pans over to Andy and there is some random guy standing next to him. Who the hell is this guy? He's not part of the Scranton or Stamford branch. Did they just stick some random guy in to see if anyone would notice? Screen cap below.

I'm rewatching the series and am halfway through season 3. I watched The Merger just a few days ago and never even noticed that.

In the episode The Merger, this unknown character is seen sitting next to Andy on the table in the conference room. Considering all the Stamford employees were told to sit on the table, it is assumed he was once an employee at Stamford. This character, however, is never seen again.

I think the rest of those employees were mentioned by Karen in the episode Cocktails.
I think she said the rest of them quit.

Ive watched every episode of the Michael scott days so many times. I wish I kept count. It never got old for me. I hate that they dont play them on TBS or anything much anymore

Used to love watching it on TBS, and on Fox around 10-11 when I was going to sleep. Now it doesn't come on TBS at all on comes on Fox at like 2:30am. At least WGN plays Park and Rec reruns at night now.

Yeah I cant watch them on netflix anymore because its so hard for me to pick an episode. I use to watch them on TBS all the time no matter how many times I had seen the episode

I like to just watch Story arcs
Like the Michael Scott Paper Company or the four episode Andy arc at the end of Season 8 which is very underrated.
