That doesn't excuse the rapist's actions.
Not a single person has "excused" a rapist in any post in this thread.
The silliness is in the creating of the hypothetical scenario of a dude purposely getting the girl drunk (outside of her ability to figure out and cope) and then having sex as some nefarious and pervasive "culture" that is being ignored by us non-rapey men.
It is goofy.
There are BAD people.
There are white collar thieves and thug robbers. There are murderers, arsonists, swindlers, cheats, pick-pockets, shoplifters, and vandals.
Why are we pointing to one "crime"...inventing scenarios under which it SOMETIMES occurs...and then lamenting this "culture"?

I'm still waiting for Hawkeye or someone else to describe this culture....Nobody has done so yet, except to point to people CHOOSING to drink of their own volition.

WAT?
Since you seemed to jump in late to my comments, here is the string of comments in which I initially responded to.
quote:
No but you can still get someone drunk pretty easily. Make them very strong vodka drinks with a sugary base, very hard to taste the alcohol and thus the person gets drunk quickly.
For your argument to have any validity, the man would have be actively participate in the actual making of the drink
The point was there are numerous examples of men actively participating in the actual making of highly alcoholic and sugary drinks. I agreed with your point that women know the drink is highly alcoholic(though I would guess some of the naive freshmen girls aren't as aware) and still choose to drink it. I'm not arguing there is a rape culture because I'm not really sure what that actually is. I was just providing an example where highly alcoholic beverages are provided to girls in the hopes of it lowering their inhibitions enough to where the men get laid. You seem to be arguing that their choosing to drink the beverages gives the men a green light to do to the women as they please. I thought my point was pretty crystal clear. Sorry you missed it.

Because it boils down complex issues into cutesy, emotionally-laden talking points used by open-minded, protectors of humanity, liberal progressives to feel good about themselves as they take up a media-concocted cause to rally around.
See: gun control
ETA: BTW I know your question was rhetorical

that wasnt my argument at all. It's apparent that you have zero command of the English language at this point in the discussion.

I first heard this phrase in 1994.
Movie: PCU
Line from Womynist
"Pack up your rape culture and take a hike"

Should a man be able to scream rape after a coyote date?

I just want to point out that Mad Men, a show about set in 1960's office environment where women were nothing more than man's play things masquerading as secretaries is the one of the most popular shows on TV, and it's main character, Don Draper, a womanizing a-hole, is one of the most desired characters by women across the US.
My point, women are full of shite. They want to be objectified and used for sex.

Can we talk about "Rape Culture?"
Is it sexist to believe she can't be trusted to monitor her own consumption and be held accountable for her actions?
Anybody?
If we are all indeed equal in every way, why does only one sex hold the accountability? Is is crazy to expect a girl to look out for herself?
rape is about girls who fail to look out for themselves? ...

It can certainly be a part of the story. "Oh, this wonderful frat boy calls me 'bitch' and 'ho' while watching degrading porn movies and pours me drinks without telling what's in them. But he has a good heart, I'm perfectly safe going up to his room to talk about our dreams without any chance of physical contact"

Do you not see a difference between a woman walking down a public street, getting kidnapped and raped vs. a woman choosing to attend a party at frat house, choosing to drink whatever someone hands her, etc.
If anyone chooses to alter their mental awareness, they are accountable for the mistakes they made during their lapse in mental awareness (aka passing out arse up on a couch full of horny drunk college men). Is it rape? Up to the jury, but it's also a situation easily avoidable unlike the former example of strolling a public street.
Simple guide
1 - Don't go anywhere you may feel threatened and may be alone (frat-house).
2 - If #1 occurs, don't alert your mental state and ability to interpret your environment by drinking anything you don't pour yourself or you don't watch someone pour (house punch).
