Stop beating up on Coach Paul Mainieri

There is way too much parity in college baseball today. I mean there are 296 division one college baseball teams and anyone can beat anyone. If Kennesaw State ( apologies for the wrong spelling ) can advance to a super regional and Stony Brooks to the College World Series, there is a lot of parity between small colleges and so called powerhouses.
Besides the tournament is a double elimination. So you can have a perfect season and go on to host a super regional. Then have a couple of bad nights and its season ending.
With so much parity, we need to cherish the season, the SEC championships and regional and super regional wins. Nothing can be taken for granted any more in college baseball.

Stony Brooks
Is he any kin to the late Coach Herb Brooks of USA Hockey? I wish we had a coach like him.

do you not think stuff like this happened 25-30 years ago?

You're right mike. We should blame 19-22 year olds for the senseless line up and pitching changes throughout the season and post season.

I didn't see in your explanation where those others pull dominating pitchers for no reason and then keep struggling pitchers in to not only load the bases, but leaves them in to pitch and give up the lead and the trip to Omaha.
So yeah, it's baseball and everyone loses sometimes. But LSU lost undeniably because of stupid decisions that made ZERO sense to even the mildest of baseball fans.
We had our closer ready. NO WAY, in any situation, should he left Mc in after loading them up! And I'm being nice, he should have pulled him way before they were loaded.
It was a moronic display of managing

My daughter could've made better pitching decisions in the regional.

OP doesn't have winning attitude. OP sounds like CPM

quote:well you would have a point if these bad nights were just random and didn't have anything to do with terrible in game management by the coach. Im pretty sure letting McCune stay in 3 batters too long had nothing to do with parity. Im pretty sure putting in a kid that shouldn't even be on the post season roster into a jam was bad game management and not parity. Unless you want to claim that because of parity we don't have a collection of the best players. Paul is the reason we are at home instead of on the way to omaha, not bad luck. Bad luck would have been losing a game 2-1 or such on a error. Not losing a clincher because our coach left someone in too long, and then in the next game decided we should rest all of our best arms for later in the game instead of using them first to get out of jams.

I think the question here is this:
Has CPM received his fruit basket and thank you note from Augie Garrido yet?
