Going Off Shore Fishiing.. What to expect

I got invited to go fishing with some of my BNL's friends. Sounds like a great trip, leave out and fish for about 14-16 hours... I think we are going out 80-100 miles. Since I am a hill county boy from NELA, I've never been out on a trip like this.
What should I expect?
Anything you would recommend taking?
What can I do to help prevent sea sickness?
Thanks

If you have never been offshore it wouldn't hurt to take some bonine before going out. I would not want to find out that i get sea sick on a long trip like that.
ETA: Expect it to be ridiculously hot and also you will probably rock for a few hours once back on land

Sunblock, beer, some good snacks, Vodka and energy drinks, a medium sized towel, beer, shoes with non marking soles, beer...
Expect a long day, a rough ride, and a shitload of fun

Definitely more beer than you think you need. Hell is was so hot out there this weekend i drank way more beer than normal.

As an avid vodka drinker, I would not recommend it on a trip like that. Especially for a first timer

I would suggest you take Dramemine or better yet the motion sickness patches beginning 12 to 18 hours before you step on the boat...taking it when getting on the boat is to late...

If you know a doctor have him call in some scopolomine nasal spray. I used to get seasick like a dog and this is my miracle cure.

3 or 4 cans of dip
Water
I like to bring popeyes fried chicken in ziplocs. Everyone on the boat will love they don't have to make a sammich.

That's a pretty good idea. Last trip one of the guys grilled a bunch of boneless pork chops and brought them in a ziplock. Cold, grilled pork chops are the bomb on the boat!!!

Hydrate.
If you are drinking: go beer, beer water, beer, beer, water. Eat fruit and wraps and grilled meat and shite like that. Fried and greasy food doesn't like me in open water.

This is essential. I ate and drank WAY more (water and gatorade) out there than I do on regular inshore trips
