When will this thing get released?
My current phone is starting to die, and I've been qualified for an upgrade for some time now.
I figure that I've waited this long, I can stick it out a little longer to get the new model.

Congrats. You never need to buy another new phone. Ever.

Ok, none of this means anything to me.

It's because you don't have the ability to do it.. You head to your computer when you could do it on your phone if it allowed.

Well I will need to if there is faster services provided by the carriers that only certain phones can handle.
An iPhone 3s couldn't handle 4G so an upgrade is necessary.
I know your comment was tongue in cheek but it is quite true that my phone doesn't need to evolve into anything more than I need. I don't see a problem with that. It surely doesn't need to evolve to the point where I worry about silly things like how my clock looks on my lock screen and shite like that.

The thing is that I wouldn't do that with a phone no matter how convenient it was.

Honestly, I work in an environment that requires PCs on a daily basis so I will never need a phone to do anything corkstand explained. Maybe some people do. IDK.

You have to understand that all of the benefits you guys talk about the Android having over the iPhone are so insignificant to a person like me that the bickering over which phone is better is silly. They all do the things I need. It's not like the Droid phones can get on the internet and the iPhones can't.
When one brand of phone is leaps and bounds ahead of the others then I will reconsider my position. Right now there is no serious reason to consider one brand or operating system to be anything more than a marginal improvement over the other ones.

If you are happy doing what you do the way you do it, that's fine. Just as long as you realize that many, many people do the same things you do, only more efficiently. And they also do things that make life very convenient, and you would probably do them too if you could and you knew about them.

ETA: I'm surprised you took that comment in an insulting manner.

That's why I said "if you open your mind". You might not care about saving 5 seconds when doing something, but I do care about saving 5 seconds one hundred times per day.

This whole topic is interesting to me because I don't see as many people using their phones for the things you describe as being important considerations to you.
I'd like to see if I'm falling behind the times or if people like you are the minority of smart phone users.
I may start a thread on this. My first Tech Board thread.

I might be the minority, but I think the majority would benefit from doing things my way.
Seriously, though, if iOS8 does have that app sharing feature, I think you will use it a lot. You might not even realize how much time it will save you.
This functionality has been ingrained in Android for a long time. This, along with home screens that are separate from the app drawer, and widget support, are things I would not want to do without.

I do that on my iPhone. Home screen has all my favorite apps lined up and ready. I'm not sure what the distinction is you're trying to make.

Best not to post anything related to Apple on the Tech Board.
The Android crowd has set up shop here and seemingly runs the board. Apple can't be mentioned here without a swarm of snark.

I included that because I had just said that my home screens have zero app icons, instead they have only widgets. This is true, but it doesn't sound very usable unless I mention that I have app launchers in my home row, right?

What the hell is an app launcher?

Gotcha. I don't get the pissing matches. 95% of the population uses their phone to check email, text, surf, take pics and social media. They're all one push away no matter the platform.
