Let the voters elect the attorney general so that justice department is not part of the executive branch. Thought?

I'd never let the populace's popular vote dictate anything directly, unless the right to vote were restricted to only those with a stake... or something.

Why? Most states do it. It would allow us to actually get an independent investigation (maybe).

ETA: sorry for the premature submission. I swear it never happens

There just has to be a way to prevent a lawless hack from getting into that position, and an easy way to get them out, if they don't want to enforce laws.

We need an amendment repealing the 17th amendment, first. Direct election of senators is absolutely gross and has caused much damage. It is so much harder to get much needed cuts passed through congress when senators have government-addicted imbeciles as their constituents. I'm looking at you, Iowa.

make background info public before the election.

ETA: allow congress to impeach them with only 51% vote in each house. Also allow the POTUS to recommend he/she be impeached.

Seems naive. The AG would be a tool of one of the two major political parties. The AG will be easier to be bought by corporations and other big interest groups.

Not sure I see a pro here.

Yeah, just imagine if lobbyists had direct access to him. He would be even worse.

Imagine how insufferable Holder would be if Romney were president. Holder would be going after Romney, his allies, and their donors non- stop.

Are elected judges better than appointed judges?

So basically you're saying the voters are incapable of governing themselves (because they don't agree with you and your views on the budget, taxation, economy, etc), and we should have Senators acquire their position by . . . appointment? An electoral college?

I would do away with the life time appointment of federal judges, but have them serve 10 year terms instead.

The state legislatures would elect the senators, just like it was before 1913.

There is not much point having a constitutional amendment when the oligarchy that runs the country is not in the least bit interested in following the constitution. Everyone would wear themselves out getting the measure through, and to what avail?

The US was designed as a federalist republic not a democracy.

No, it sucks. It has arguably robbed people of their liberty more often than any monarchy/empire/dictatorship ever did.

They just want to reward strategic re-districting at least until the Dems get the numbers skewed in their favor - then they'll scream for elections again.
