Seeing several veiled posts on this board and elsewhere about him and what he was actually doing over there both as a soldier and a prisoner.

It's Very Strange And The Truth Will Never Be known

Left his post in Afghanistan and got 'captured'. Said something about hating being American. 6 guys were killed while searching for him while he was captured by Taliban. War effort came to a halt as assets were diverted to the search. Father tweeted this AM about needing to free the rest of the Terrorists at Guantanimo. Obama needed a distraction from Benghazi, Obamacare, VA fiascos. Trading 5 Ranking Talibans for Bergdahl was the way to get it. Now it's backfired too.
That's the Readers Digest version.

My take is that he comes from a family of Taliban sympathizers. Bergdahl joined the army believing a romantic view of doing good in the shite hole that is Afghanistan. Obviously it isn't what he thought it would be so becomes a bit depressed. Father basically tells him to join the taliban. He does. Serveral service members are killed trying to find him. His father supports all those in GITMO.

I read today how the father was speaking to him in arabic bc Bergdahl's English is so bad after five years. Didn't really know what to make of that.
I also saw how the NYT deduced who the five prisoners we traded were, and they sound like motherfrickers that should have stayed in Gitmo. Hopefully they will track them and drop a drone strike on them down the line.

Received from a USARPAC soldier this morning:
“Please don’t list my name– I am here in Afghanistan– I know the story and the accounts that he was drunk or that he was lagging behind on patrol are not true– this soldier planned this move for a long time. He walked off the post with a day’s supply of water and had written down before that he wanted to live in the mountains. He has violated the Code of Conduct in his 28 minute speech and he is an e[m]barrassment to everyone who has worn the uniform. He made it to two towns and was asking for water when the locals turned him over to the Taliban. That is really all I can say– since we are still looking for this soldier.”

Well this will piss you right off.

Emails reported by the late Michael Hastings in Rolling Stone in 2012 reveal what Bergdahl's fellow infantrymen learned within days of his disappearance: he told people that he no longer supported the U.S. effort in Afghanistan.
"The future is too good to waste on lies," Bowe wrote to his parents. "And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be American. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting."
Bergdahl wrote to them, "I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting."
quote:
A former member of Bergdahl's squad who has yet to identify his last name publicly but goes by "Cody" tweeted this weekend that before he disappeared, Bergdahl once told him, "If deployment is lame, I'm going to get lost in the Mountains and make my way to China."
Leatherman told CNN that Bergdahl "always looked at the mountains in the distance and talked of 'seeing what's on the other side.'"
Cody noted in his Twitter recollections a story that others from Blackfoot Company relay. While soldiers were searching for Bergdahl, a platoon "came upon some children, they asked him have they seen an American. The children said 'yes, he was crawling on his belly through weeds and acting funny a while ago,'" according to Cody.
quote:
The platoon went to the village where the children said the American had gone. "Villagers said an American did come through the area and was wanting water and someone who spoke English," Cody shared. "Wanted to meet with Taliban."
