The main reason I tip is because I feel obligated to because they make bad wages otherwise.

And before someone says I'm a stiff, I tip about 20% when I eat at restaurants with a 3 dollar minimum when the bill is small, and I do about a dollar per drink.

Tipping is mostly an american thing.

I just feel like it's stupid because I worked in an aspect of the service industry for awhile in college where we weren't allowed to take tips and a lot of what we did was way more work than pouring a couple drinks. It's a stupid practice. Minimum wage should apply to everyone.

You would dread going out to eat if the practice of tipping was removed and every person you encountered was making minimum wage.

As for the poll, A and B.

Bartenders and servers make far, far above the minimum wage. No one would do either job for 7.25 an hour.

Actually, minimum wage does apply. If a server doesn't claim enough tips to cover minimum wage in a pay period, the restaurant or bar has to add payment beyond the $2.15 or whatever the server minimum wage is to get them to pay period earnings of the actual minimum wage. Problem is, if a server doesn't claim at least actual minimum wage in earnings, they won't be employed long.

It does. If you don't make the tips to make up minimum wage the employer has to make up the difference.
