I guess we were to infer that the virus LEARNED and Evolved and didn't want the hosts to die until they got out of the building.

A bit hokey but no more so that World War Z where the virus was able to detect injured people thus not infecting them because they were already broken.

True. I guess that could explain it a bit, but they certainly didn't seem to infer that during the show. Makes enough sense I guess, at least in Fringe terms.

i thought it was ALT Olivia who was the accuracy shooter
