OT parents - do you prefer public or private schooling?

I know all schools are not created equal. Here in the Bay Area in California, some of the best schools are public especially in the tech dominant neighborhoods. Having said that, I like the discipline that private schools stress on which almost makes them worth the exorbitant costs.
What's the OT verdict? What are your criteria for picking schools?

If you're sending your kids to Baton Rouge public school you're probably better off sending them to Angola.

OT verdict= whichever school has less black people.
Each decision is different depending on many circumstances.
We love our private school because it kicks arse. Our of every class my kids have been in so far in 6 years we've never had more than two set of parents be divorced.
We know everyone and trust the hell out of everyone involved with the school.

Honestly you have to balance the situation. Somewhere like BTR, public schools are pretty weak. Ascension parish they are much stronger. That said we are sending our kids to private school through 8th grade and will decide their high school future when it is closer.

Teachers suck equally at both and are to blame for all problems in education.

We go to church with the principal of the best private school in the area. Our plan was to send the girls from kindergarten through high school. The guy asked what school they were zoned for and we told him. "There is absolutely no reason to send them to us then. They're a better elementary than we are. If you want to send them to us starting in junior high, that would be beneficial. For now, it would be a waste of money."
