AAP just said it was unnecessary in a paper. AAP even came out and said they were not happy that their paper was being used by states dropping coverage for it. They have even put out additional papers showing benefits since then...
political pressure making them backtrack on their original response?
awesome.

circumcision takes a whopping 10 minutes and that counts local anesthesia.
just what you want to do to your newborn after going through the trauma of birth.
eta, is the jewish ceremony where the rabbi sucks the bloody penis included in that 10 minutes?
i wonder what health benefits we'll come up with for that part of the 'medical procedure'.

I've never heard a girl say that she is not grossed out by an uncircumcised peen.
could you have written that a little more confusing?

wow, so an excuse not to raise your son to be hygienic?
We do a lot of unnecessary things to help out stupid lazy people. This is just another one. Them losing their penis would probably be for the best though.

Who knows who cares, the AAP puts out a lot of garbage.

I wonder if this poor boy had a hypospadias (where his pee-hole isn't exactly lined up right at the end). A friend's kid had a mild case of this but wasn't diagnosed right at birth, so they did the circumcision in the hospital. A week or two later, the pediatrician noticed it and the kid ended up having to have corrective surgery for it. The surgeon said he should not have been circumcised as a newborn because it's easier to correct the hyposadias if there's more skin. My friend's son ended up fine, but she warned me to question the doctors carefully before circumcision if I had a boy.
Doctors in this case may not have recognized it and tried to do the circumcision, making it worse and basically mutilating him.
As far as doing it in a health clinic, sometimes it's done there but usually at one of the newborn visits. My obstetrician tacked on an extra fee before birth (even though we didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl) and she did it in the hospital before release. When we had a girl, the fee was refunded.

yep, we should stop shaving too. it is hair mutilation.
Hair grows back.
There are no blood vessels and nerve endings in hair.

Look to porn, when you see a proliferation of uncircumcised male actors, your position might be practical.
Seems to me like you haven't "looked to porn" in quite a while.
Or maybe it's that you can't tell the diff between a circed peen and an intact one that's retracted? (Many can't.)
quote:
Yeah, I'd have to agree a cut version is exponentially more appealing to the eye than the mangled looking foreskin.
As opposed to a circ'd dick that looks like it's been though a meat grinder?
quote:
You KNOW the majority of girls prefer guys that are cut so why wouldn't you give your son every possible advantage with the ladies.
And what if the son decides to live abroad at some point?
You guys seem to forget that circumcision is only "the norm" in the good ol' US and in back-asswards Mid-East countries.
quote:
I've only been with one guy who was not circumcised.
His penis had a foul smell to it. Even right after he showered. Huge turn off.
I've already told you once, women are NOT in a position to complain about genital odors.
I've smelled queefs that would cause even Pepé Le Pew to hurl.
quote:quote:
It's genital mutilation.
It's hard to take people serious when they use this type of hyperbole
Why is it that you people have no problem with equating female circ with "genital mutilation?"
I mean, isn't that "hyperbole" also?
quote:
I saw many circs where the baby didn't cry once because of the sucrose.
Maybe it was because he went into shock from the pain...
Or hell, maybe the next time I need surgery I'll just ask if I can chug a bowl of syrup. I mean, if sucrose works so well at numbing the pain and all.
quote:
Foreskin is a burden when young and a burden when old.
~85% of the world's males (not to mention the ENTIRE mammalian population) manage just fine with that "burden."
quote:
No UNEDUCATED AMERICAN woman wants a stinky peen.
yea no UNEDUCATED AMERICAN woman wants an anteater.
FIFY
~85% of the world's males are left intact.
Circ rates in the US have gone down dramatically, esp. in western states.
quote:
Maybe we should circumcise females too to be safe.
Better yet, maybe we should excise all their breast tissue at birth.
That would help prevent those 1 in 8 women from having to deal with the burden of breast cancer.

a bunch of butt hurt circumcised people in this thread defending their snipped-off manhood.
i'm circumcised too..doesnt mean i dont have eyes that see and ear that hear and can make a decision for myself (and my son) that leaves him better off.
guess what? pork was also off limits for jewish & muslim people back in the day because it wasn't cooked properly. so should we make sure our penis mutilated children also avoid bacon?

They put out a lot of good stuff, but they tend to put a lot of why in the frick did you put that out there stuff too.
Like getting into the gun control debate, fricking retarded....

I don't give a shite if you don't circumcise your son or not, I just hate all the hyperbole by those so against it
yeah...it is an unnecessary procedure done for mostly aesthetics
but it is in no way "genital mutilation" like some of you tards try to pass it off as

I am still neither for or against it. I don't feel like it impacted me in any way and don't really care
Why do the people who call it genital mutilation care so much? I would say an overwhelming majority of people who have had it done are fine with it. People who haven't had it done seem fine with it as well. It seems to be an extremely passionate argument about if cargo shorts are trashy or not. Just extremely pointless.
I am firmly in the let the parents decide if they want to or not camp.

why? because its socially acceptable in the US?
exactly how much of the penis' skin do you have to cut off of your son before you consider it mutilation?

knowledge is power.
the same way i feel like people should be educated that an AD CAMPAIGN orchestrated by that diamond cartel, DeBeers in the 1940s convinced people to pay 10s of thousands of dollars for a useless polished chunk of dried up carbon before they can get married.
meanwhile, y'all keep spending $10k+ on diamond rings for women..its basically a tax on stupid people.
DeBeers has locked down the market on a ghost product...diamonds are as plentiful as sand but they have an ENORMOUS vested interest in keeping the ruse going.
same with chopping off penis skin.
