I'd agree that Fassbender is a better magneto due to age,

He's also set to become massively expensive in the near future, that's my worry.

but while Mcavoy is an awesome professor x so is Patrick Stewart. I wouldn't mind keeping him around in some capacity.

I do, but he's just so old, you can tell they use GI to smooth his face in every scene he's in and it's jarring.

quote:

they proved you wrong on the wolverine being too central of a character in this movie,

They made one movie without him as central to the plot, so while they took a step in the right direction, we shall see what happens with Apocalypse. Granted, Jackman's run as Wolverine is second only to RDJ as Stark in terms of pure effectiveness, but still...

quote:

why not give them a shot with this as well? Maybe singer also feels he's under-utilized cyclops as well?

Maybe, and there are enough storylines that they could reset at almost any point they wanted, I just hope they do.

quote:

I never really read the comics so I don't have the same passion for some of the characters you seem to though so I'm not all that bothered by some of the missteps.

It's just untapped potential, as much shite as I give him, Singer has done fine. He made the new slate of Comic book movies bankable after the crap of later Batman;s (read:Batman and Robin).

quote:

I think it was more of a bold move for the studio to go this route rather than blow it up and reboot.

I think it was the safe route, the bold route would have been to recast. And Jackman has already said he's only got 1 more solo outing as Wolverine left in him so we get him in Apocalypse and the next Wolverine and that may be it. Unless he just keeps doing team ups.

Before DOFP I was very very wary of Apocalypse. After seeing DOFP, not so much. I just wish they would have gone another direction. I think it will be another solid Singer outing with familiar story lines, a focus on the same central core of characters, and the same missteps that have permeated since X1. This doesn't mean a bad film, it means probably a pretty good film, maybe even near great film. But it does mean that most characters will see their identities stagnant again.

DOFP should have been two movies, that was the other way to go somewhere different.

this I can agree on. You could have spent more time in the future and given a larger role for guys like Bishop.

I don't know, I wouldn't describe the task they undertook with DOFP safe.

Fassbender put off a Don Draper vibe in this one.

Mcavoy...more of a Lieutenant Dan
