Average tenured teacher, or major research teacher might make that much, but as a whole, the teachers cannot make an average of $150k/yr. Just too hard for me to believe. Say they buy 500 computers at $500, that's still only $250,000/yr. Building two new buildings probably costs(just guessing) $50MM/yr.

In no way does it add up to them losing money, and frankly, it seems to me like they would be at least clearing a couple of hundred million a year.

Not when you take into account the briefcases of cash delivered around the state during Christmas times each year. Those are "expenses" too

FWIW, I wholly agree with you, I am sarcastically justifying these "expenses"

Public university salaries are public record. Many are "assistant professors" or "instructors" who make way less than 100k.
