Maybe not Cleveland or Cincy, but Columbus isnt anything like those cities. Did you not read the OP? Columbus is a newer, modern, up and coming city. It is growing by the day from people moving from all parts of Ohio. Columbus has a vastly different look to it then Clev/Cincy. By and large, the players who have played for the Blue Jackets, past and present, have said other then the losing, Columbus was a great city to play in. This is another point, Columbus is a undercover gem. It isnt anything like any "rust belt" city in the Midwest or Northeast. Perhaps thats why Columbus is single handidly the fastest growing city in the entire region? If these trends continue, and by all accounts they will, at what point will it be hard to ignore Columbus as a major league city as well as a college town?

I know Columbus is on the rise, but you have to look at the numbers
NFL franchises total: 32
NFL franchises ALREADY in Ohio: 2
NBA teams: 30
NBA teams in Ohio: 1
Those are the only 2 sports where Columbus can really get a team IMO. If Seattle were to get a team, the NBA would add a 2nd in the Eastern Conference likely. I am not sure where, but I guess C-bus is as good a spot as any other?? I dunno

Ohio State dominates that city. No pro team could ever compete with OSU in the city limits.

All I heard last weekend was about how they were bitching about condos etc. being built around the City, and mainly around Rainey and how those bars were going to close because of that.
Obviously I don't live there, but the vibe I got was that they like what they have there with the local spots, and don't want to be like Dallas or Houston, much more corporate, which is what Major League franchises often want

An NFL team would do fine, but they will never get one.

I dont think Ohio will get another MLB or NFL franchise. No chance on that front.
The NBA is the only possibility and I think that that is a "slim to none" chance.
Im sure Columbus is a nice but 1.8 million is still small for a metro area to try and sustain Ohio State football and the NHL and have Ohio State basketball directly compete with and future NBA team. Keep in mind these seasons all over lap quite a bit.
Just dont see it man.

This just simply isnt true. Yes Ohio State is beloved here, but this is a city that is growing at a significant rate. The Arena District in Columbus is awesome for millenials that are craving something to cheer for. I hear people all the time talking about wanting a NBA team. Using Ohio State is just an excuse.

Austin already has enough corporate dollars to sustain a pro team. I don't think the NHL would be a hit here, nor would UT ever allow an NFL team, but NBA or MLB would be easily supported.

Well I don't think MLB is ever expanding again, as I said earlier.
I see the appeal of an NBA franchise because it's a lot smaller stadium, and you only have to have 15K "real" fans to make it work. I'm not sure you add a 4th city in Texas, but Austin absolutely has the population for it.
Do you think Austin would consider being in the Eastern Conference?

Columbus has a MSA of 2.3 Million...and growing! Also Columbus is larger then:
Kansas City
New Orleans
Milwaukee
Indianapolis
Charlotte
Nashville
All have 2 of the Big 3 sports

Probably not but teams do move. Would need a stadium though obviously.
MLS is also a possibility, although that's admittedly only half of a "major" team. Still better than the minor league stuff we have now though.

YEA...A couple of counties were just added to the Columbus MSA recently. The CSA was already there.
