I came across this article about a "bike coach" to teach kids how to ride a bike. Are some parents that lazy that they can't spend the day teaching their kids how to ride a bike? Do some parents just look for an easy out so they can get back to their lives?

This country really needs a parenting intervention.

Its one of the hardest jobs in the world so I'm not surprised people are giving up

Situations like this maybe increasing. But, some kids have always had a situation where the maid is 'mom", if you know what I mean.

Sadly, many have never learned to ride a bike. Mainly urbanites.

If you don't teach your son how to

Ride a bike
Shoot a rifle
Shave his face
Throw a curveball
Drive a standard

You fricking suck at life and should consider suicide. Seriously

yes let's teach children how to ruin their arm. Kid should throw curves until they are old enough to be taught by someone who knows that they are actually talking.

Sorry you never made it to the big league, your kid probably won't either

Today, assuming kids HAVE parents is an error to begin with.

He also helps (I would say probably primarily) special needs children that probably need a bit more help.

I don't know if this true or not, but a friend told me it cost more to buy a standard than automatic car these days. That's crazy

Yeah it should be the age when they are old enough to play for a team with a pitching coach or access to a pitching coach. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp

Sheesh, that's what you took from my post? You're very bitter, did your son turn out gay?

It's pretty frickin dumb. I have several friends who are VERY well-respected in the baseball coaching arena who CAN (and did) teach their kids to throw curves. In fact two of them played MLB. See how stupid that "concept" is, really?

I bet this bike coach is for the parents to brag on facebook that little Johnny is not just learning to ride a bike, but learning from the best.
In hopes that he can make the best travel biking team.

That's fair but I'm ranting about parents who do not have children with special needs

I'm not sure how he equated learning to ride a bike and throwing a curve ball at the same age?

Point taken.

They both coached HS. One still does.

Yeah HS is the proper age for it. Anything else is just harmful to the kids. I hate parents who try to live through their kids. I personally watched it wreck one of my friends futures and he's kind of stuck with no experience other than baseball and I hate seeing that.
