A PF just opened about 5 minutes from my work. With their monthly dues being so cheap ($10-$20/month) I am thinking of joining.

I know they don't offer much in the line of free weights, but I'm looking more to tone up and trim down so I'd look to utilize the treadmills and machine weights.

I'm also aware of their "liberal" policies involving no "lunks," no dropping weights, alarms that go off to shame those who do, and of course their free pizza/bagels/candy.

Is anyone here a member and if so, is it worth the $10 a month? I'm currently a member at Foxys and that gym has disappointed me with their poor maintenance on the equipment offered.

Of course it's worth it

No contract, and it's 10 or 20 a month.

This will eventually be a big problem at any gym that charges $10 a month.

You grunt 1 time and you'll regret ever joining.

If that's what you want to get out of it then it's pretty tough to beat to be honest. I'm not a member anymore, but I used to be. They had cardio machines for days and I got a lot of use out of that place (and other ones when I traveled out of town) for my $20 a month.

Is it true that planet fitness doesn't even have squat racks? I seen pictures and I thought they only had smith machines.

I left when they wouldn't let me work out on the treadmill after they offered me "Free Pizza"

What's the purpose of offering members food if you can't eat while walking on the treadmill at 3.0 mph?

They will charge you fee when you leave, that's how they get you. It's technically a contract without the word contract written into it

so they really hand out free pizza and candy?

I guess that is a really good business model...

keep the fatties fat by feeding them free junk food at the gym

Def worth the monthy fee. There is also an annual $30 charge in October but it's still a very cheap membership. Always clean and broken equipment is always repaired quickly at the PF I go to.

They only have smith machines. And if you don't know how to get a great workout by using a smith machine, I'm not sure what to tell you.

The place is absolutely worth $10 a month.

It is impossible for me to support any "gym" that has a "lunk alarm" and will kick you out if you work out too aggresively or another member reports you for being to "intimidating". And pizza and candy for free? Come on.

There was an article posted here not long ago about a woman that was kicked out because she was in great shape and wore gym clothing that made others feel uncomfortable. Crazy.

I applaud their business plan, but find it ridiculous and hypocritical. I'd spend a few bucks more to go to a place that doesn't have pizza grease on the equipment.

I think they do the pizza thing once a month...I don't know it's pretty ridiculous and I never paid much attention to it when I was there. The free candy is a little jar of tootsie rolls that are kept at the front desk area.

I've actually never been but this is what I've heard from friends that are members there. The 1st Monday of every month is "Free Pizza" day. And if you look too intimidating they will tell you leave.

It's also a gold mine for chubby chicks with low self esteem and women over 40 that work out once a week. If you're looking for poon you're chances are better here.

Wow, PF sounds terrible. I would hate that place, probably full of fat fricks that come in once a week and hit a set on every machine.

False... I was with them for a year. Never once heard the lunk alarm and when I cancelled due to no time to go, there was no fee.

See you were there for over a year, if you try to cancel within the first few months they will charge you.
