Speeding in a vehicle has a better chance of harming someone else. So, you're right, it's a silly comparison.
You could drive drunk and kill someone and walk away with a lesser punishment.
Intoxication Manslaughter
Second Degree Felony “A person commits an offense if the person:
1) …operates a motor vehicle in a public place, and…
2) …is intoxicated and by reason of that intoxication causes the death of another by accident or mistake.”

Maybe we should face a year in prison for a traffic violation.....Make it so that people don't want to break the law right???

Bad comparison; you're right. Speeding is a lot more dangerous.

A perfect case for Jury nullification, that would leave the judge and prosecutor with dicks in their hands.

I heard that under the law, the entire weight of the brownie can be considered an illegal drug. So, while there may not have been much oil in there (may even have been misdemeanor levels, dunno), all the other ingredients are factored in. So, the sugar, flour, coco, etc. are all considered illegal drugs.

That might be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
So sadly it probably is true

"The charge is so severe because the recipe includes hash oil.
That allows the state to use the sugar, cocoa, butter and other ingredients to determine the weight of the drugs.
“They’ve weighed baked goods in this case. It ought to be a misdemeanor,” Holmes said."

Yes, and I understand the consequences. Are you comparing brownies with drugs in them to speeding? Go on...
Depending on your speed, yeah, speeding is definitely more harmful than eating pot brownies. Say you're going 60 in a school zone, you go over a hill, and hit a kid. Happened many times before.
What are you going to do after eating a pot brownie? Sit on your arse, giggle, and watch Dazed and Confused? I guarantee that tens if not hundreds of thousands of people have been killed by speeding compared to eating pot brownies.

Kid is lucky he didn't kill anyone. I don't think he should get life though.
