All I use is dead shrimp on a jig head and I've had some success... pretty much hit the spots of grass that are along the banks...

that'll work. The reds in the bay should start getting good right about now. just pound the grass

Does the tide play a big factor?

Any reports as of late?

as long as the river isn't high you should be good
and yes tides play a large part in any fisheries.
good luck

Yep, in both saltwater fishing and in college football.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Pretty sure it's high
LINK
near Cypremort Point
LINK
near Intracoastal City.
these are the salinities, water temperature, etc. from around Vermillion Bay.
Cypremort is north central, while Intracoastal is West (closer to Marsh Island).
Just monitor the salinity.
As long as it doesn't get super fresh (<2 or 3) then you should be able to catch Red Drum.
Just find some grass with some current moving through it like suggested earlier.
I don't normally fish this area, but near Hell Hole they have some artificial oyster reefs that are pretty productive (well at least with Gill nets )

Tide is important . But if you find them schooled up then it's on
Posted on 6/7/14 at 1:12 pm to Cadello
Odds of me finding um schooled is slim to none...

Change that "slim" to zero if you don't at least get out there though.
